Ron Paul on the North Korean Situation

North Korea has been a hot topic during the past week with the news coming out of the rouge nation setting off a Nuclear Device. There has even been discussion of the possibility of military involvement in the Korean Peninsula.

Before any rush to judgment is made, we should head the advice of Congressman Ron Paul. Dr. Paul discusses the NPRK's detonation of an atomic device, how they achieved that technology using subsidies from the Clinton Administration, and the importance of a noninterventionist foreign policy in this video:

  1. Dr. Paul makes some interesting points but seems to forget that Kim Jong Il would "sell his own mother for hard currency" (quote from Ambassador John Bolton). North Korea was behind the Syrian reactor the Israelis destroyed last year and has sold missile and nuclear technology to Iran. While I agree with Dr. Paul to stop giving North Korea carrots, I think we are still left with a massive security threat that can not readily be solved with military action. I think Ambassador Bolton was correct in his analysis: put North Korea on the "state sponsor of terrorism" list, restrict their financial capabilities, embargo their ships and industry, blockade their ports, pressure China to step on Kim Jong Il's neck, stop the UN WHO from sending medical supplies and food, and let them eat uranium.
