The Conservative Coup in NY-23

The Republican Party was delivered a significant blow this weekend with the Conservative candidate Doug Hoffman coming out on top of the polls against the Democratic challenger, only after the liberal Republican dropped out of the race, and endorsed the Democrat.

The national Republican Party, like they always do, endorsed this liberal Republican, because they could care less about principles, and more about winning elections. The leaders of the party, like Newt Gingrich, John Boehner, and Michael Steele threw their support behind the liberal Republican because they want bigger government to finance their big government agenda.

Now while this blog is a more Libertarian blog, we still supported Doug Hoffman, and still do. It is time for the rise of a third party, and in this case it was a conservative coup in the New York 23rd Congressional District.

The Politico had this to report:

In the wake of conservatives’ role in forcing liberal Republican Dede Scozzafava out of Tuesday’s special election in New York’s 23rd District, GOP officials are trying to make it seem as if they are helping to stoke the passion — and can harness it to upend President Barack Obama and Democrats. They didn’t — and they can’t.

Many of the activists who helped knock out Scozzafava told POLITICO that the passion is building despite — and sometimes to spite — Republican leaders in Washington.

“I don’t give a crap about party,” said Jennifer Bernstone, a tea party organizer for Central New York 912, which helped to lead the anti-Scozzafava charge. “Grass-roots activists don’t care about party.”

Says Everett Wilkinson, a tea party organizer in Florida: “We are not going to allow our [movement] to be stolen by the GOP or by any political party.”

Doug Hoffman doesn't represent everything I believe, but he is closer than the Republican Party will ever be.  The election is tomorrow, and Hoffman currently has a health lead in the polls, but don't always trust polls. This coup of the Republican agenda is not over, and it only starts tomorrow when Doug Hoffman comes out on top.

The coup continues with Rand Paul in Kentucky, and Peter Schiff in Connecticut. These two candidates represent this sites philosophy on government and this should be were the focus of the movement to rid the Republicans of big government continues.

Lets take back our country...R3VOLUTION!
