Ron Paul on the North Korean Situation

North Korea has been a hot topic during the past week with the news coming out of the rouge nation setting off a Nuclear Device. There has even been discussion of the possibility of military involvement in the Korean Peninsula.

Before any rush to judgment is made, we should head the advice of Congressman Ron Paul. Dr. Paul discusses the NPRK's detonation of an atomic device, how they achieved that technology using subsidies from the Clinton Administration, and the importance of a noninterventionist foreign policy in this video:

I Refuse to Buy General Motors if the Feds Own 72%

With the news coming out that the United States Government will own about 72% of General Motors, I am now making a pledge not to buy cars from General Motors until the government is no longer in the business of owning car companies; and trying to regulate what type of cars should be produced.

In a recent interview
President Barack Obama said the government had no choice but to take majority stake in General Motors. I find this reasoning unacceptable; being that this administration has given up on the free market to fix the situation.

The Government is causing the problems for the American car companies. They have been the ones that have regulated the car industry so much, it has effectively been broken in to pieces. They instruct the auto industry to make a certain type of car that will lower emissions, but then a couple of years later, after a lot of money has been put into productions and design of this car, the government steps in and changes the standard and type.

This is why I refuse to buy GM, and if this keeps happening, American made cars. I can't support a company which is now owned by the Federal Government. I can't support an ideology that abandons the free market.

If GM is that bad, then they should be allowed to file for Chapter 11 bankruptcy. By letting the protections that have been built into our system to allow companies the chance to restructure, GM would come out of bankruptcy more capable of producing effectively and eventually away from relying on the federal government for help.

The free market is the most precious aspect of this Republic. It is what separates us from the rest of the world. But now our government has moved us so far away from free market principles this is no longer true. They are taking us more towards socialism, and stripping the citizens of this country of individual liberty.

Liberty is worth protecting, and this is why I ask the question that I ask quite a bit...when is the R3VOLUTION??

Mark Sanford the Most Articulate for the GOP

We constantly talk on this website about the need for somebody in the Republican Party that can take the reigns and deliver a message of true conservatism. While we think Ron Paul is the bearer of this label, we also think that Governor Mark Sanford of South Carolina is able to take hold of this idea from Dr. Paul.

Mark Sanford has made a name for himself by turning down the stimulus money being dished out by the Obama Administration, and recently he made an ad that defended his position on this very issue. The ad was analyzed by Fox News' Frank Luntz who is famous for his focus groups to pick apart issues, and politicians.

Here is the video of this exchange on Fox News:

"Governor Sanford is the most articulate Republican out there right now, and the other Republicans ought to pay attention, or if they don't, they're numbers will continue to languish." -- Frank Luntz, Fox News Analyst

Peter Schiff--Another Potential Senate Candidate?

Just a couple of weeks ago we featured Dr. Rand Paul (son of Ron Paul) who announced his formation of an exploratory committee to run for the United States Senate in Kentucky. Now there is another like minded individual mulling a potential run in the state of Connecticut, Peter Schiff.

Peter Schiff is the recognized economic advisor for the Ron Paul Presidential Campaign. He has been on television non-stop since it turned out his prediction of the financial collapse was true.

The Courant, a Connecticut blog featured a story about this very subject. They had the following to say about the situation:

Schiff, the broker and financial pundit who is widely credited with having predicted the world financial meltdown, told Greg Sargent's Plum Line blog theplumline.whorunsgov.com that there's a "better than 50-50" chance he will run against U.S. Sen. Christopher Dodd. Schiff added that he'd decide in the next "two to three weeks."

This is the type of addition we need to the United States Senate. On the off chance that he does run, and both him and Rand Paul win, it will be a power house in the Senate to reckon with.

Peter Schiff is a big proponent of the Austrian School of Economics, which is the ultimate free market economic way of thinking. He was widely acclaimed for having predicted the financial situation this country is currently experiencing.

It is imperative that conservatives listen to people like Peter Schiff, and the Paul's, because this is exactly what true conservatism is suppose to be, but the Republican Party ignores their intellectual insight for the sake of winning elections.

Black Panthers Who Intimidated Voters in 2008 Have Cases Dropped

On election day 2008, it came to light on the internet that there was members of the Black Panthers standing in front of a polling location in Philadelphia with weapons, which made some voters unwillingly to vote out of fear.

But now it seems political appointees of the Obama Justice Department are dropping the case against these two individuals. From the Washington Times:

Justice Department political appointees overruled career lawyers and ended a civil complaint accusing three members of the New Black Panther Party for Self-Defense of wielding a nightstick and intimidating voters at a Philadelphia polling place last Election Day, according to documents and interviews.

The incident - which gained national attention when it was captured on videotape and distributed on YouTube - had prompted the government to sue the men, saying they violated the 1965 Voting Rights Act by scaring would-be voters with the weapon, racial slurs and military-style uniforms.

Career lawyers pursued the case for months, including obtaining an affidavit from a prominent 1960s civil rights activist who witnessed the confrontation and described it as "the most blatant form of voter intimidation" that he had seen, even during the voting rights crisis in Mississippi a half-century ago.

Seems to me that the Obama Administration is dropping the case against these two men because they probably helped him big time in the city of Philadelphia.

Here is the video that caused all the stir on the internet:

Political intimidation at it's finest.

Is the United States Headed Towards Hyperinflation?

In a time where the U.S. Dollar is losing its value at unprecedented rates, a question has come up concerning the effect of inflation on the U.S. economy.

The term hyperinflation is hardly ever used, but it is rearing its ugly head. Hyperinflation is defined as such; hyperinflation is inflation that is very high or "out of control", a condition in which prices increase rapidly as a currency loses its value.

This is exactly what is occurring in this country as we speak. The currency is losing its value, and we are coming up to the point were high prices will start to take effect.

Here is an interview from the Glenn Beck program with Peter Schiff, and an economist predicting hyperinflation like that of Zimbabwe:

This is something that needs to be taken control of, but I fear the leaders in our government will not see this as a immediate problem.

Republicans are Wasting Their Time on Supreme Court Nomination

In a year where the Republican Party is suppose to be rebranding itself as the fiscal conservatives they say they are, they will instead waste their time fighting President Obama's nomination to the Supreme Court.

Already on radio, and in Washington, conservatives are trying to put up a fight against a nomination that will be confirmed. They are labeling her as a reverse racist, and liberal activist. Take this story from Fox News:

WASHINGTON -- The battle is on between conservative and liberal interest groups to define little-known federal judge Sonia Sotomayor before senators -- away from the capital on a weeklong break -- return to weigh in on the fate of the woman who would be the Supreme Court's first Hispanic justice.

Republican senators are speaking in cautious but measured tones about Sotomayor's qualifications and fitness for the court while Democrats join the White House in singing her praises. But the outside organizations that have a major stake in a high-court fight are taking up warring positions.

Conservative groups brand her an activist who would impose her own views and ethnic and gender biases on her interpretation of the law and the Constitution.

The Republicans are reverting back to their old tactics, and instead should be focusing on revamping their image as fiscal conservatives instead of waging a war on abortion, which is were these types of fights always lead.

Judge Sonia Sotomayor is a liberal judicial activist, and she is replacing a liberal on the court. Give up this fight, and start promoting Freedom and Liberty.

White House Threatens Critics of Supreme Court Pick

In the wake of President Obama's pick for the United States Supreme Court, the White House is threatening people who are going to be critical of the pick.

Watch the video for yourself:

I am so glad we live in a country that cherishes free speech...

Even Biden Knows of Obama's Teleprompter Fascination

It is pretty bad when the Vice-President of the United States pokes fun at Obama's reliance for the teleprompter.

"What I am going to tell the president when I tell him his teleprompter is broken? What will he do then?"

Watch the video:

Is Waterboarding Torture?

There has been a heated debate recently on the technique of waterboarding used by United States interrogators. The procedure is described by the United States Office of Legal Counsel as follows:

In this procedure, the individual is bound securely to an inclined bench, which is approximately four feet by seven feet. The individual's feet are generally elevated. A cloth is placed over the forehead and eyes. Water is then applied to the cloth in a controlled manner. As this is done, the cloth is lowered until it covers both the nose and mouth. Once the cloth is saturated and completely covers the mouth and nose, air flow is slightly restricted for 20 to 40 seconds due to the presence of the cloth… During those 20 to 40 seconds, water is continuously applied from a height of twelve to twenty-four inches. After this period, the cloth is lifted, and the individual is allowed to breathe unimpeded for three or four full breaths… The procedure may then be repeated. The water is usually applied from a canteen cup or small watering can with a spout… You have… informed us that it is likely that this procedure would not last more than twenty minutes in any one application."

In this video shot on Friday, after just 7 seconds of being waterboarded, Chicago talk host Mancow surrenders and recants his earlier view that waterboarding isn't torture:

I currently lean towards the side of the coin that waterboarding is torture. I know what it is like to gasp for air while submerged in water, for I do swim a lot.

To me this is not a conservative or liberal issue, but rather character on the part of the United States. We envy ourselves as the moral leaders in the world, but when we participate in techniques that our enemies would probably use on us, we submit to their level of character and destroy everything we stand for. There are other ways to get information out of people without using torture as a technique.

Is the Economy Out of the Woods?

Recently a lot of economists in this country have been saying the recession will end this year, but there are still some unanswered questions about the economy and the actions of the federal government. We have been accumulating debt for years, and the government is currently in a spending free for all. The Obama Administration has declared we are out of money, but they continue to spend money they don't have, and rack up the national debt even more.

Congressman Ron Paul, as always, is the only one that really gets what is happening. Here is his interview from today on CNN's American Morning:

What needs to be discussed is the notion that the economy is not out of the woods. It will only appear on the surface that problems have been fixed, and eventually we will be back in the same place, or even worse, than were we are right now.

This government is selling the future away for pet projects that make their legs tingle. At some point, they will need to protect our liberties, or send us into a state of totalitarian control.

What Good Has the Federal Reserve Done?

H.R. 1207, Ron Paul's bill to audit the Federal Reserve has gained a lot of steam in Congress, and it shouldn't be long until this bill is law. But we ask the question...what good has the Federal Reserve done?

Politicians that support the Fed say it provides stability over the economy unlike the Gold standard. However, this chart proves this assumption wrong:

As the chart shows, ever since the creation of the Federal Reserve the boom and busts have been more frequent, and bigger, than they would have been under the Gold standard.

The Gold standard provides more stability because it eliminates the risk or high rapid inflation. Under the fiat system of money, the Federal Reserve can print money they don't have, and accumulate debt. This is extremely harder under the Gold standard.

So the answer to the question of what good has the Fed done?...it seems from the chart that no good has come of this unconstitutional agency, and it should be audited and abolished.

Call your Congressman and demand that they support H.R. 1207. Sign the petition here.

Obama's Supreme Court Pick Believes Courts Dictate Policy

President Obama selected his pick for the United States Supreme Court today in Sonia Sotomayor, and already there is proof that she has no respect for the authority of the Constitution of the United States.

Judge Sotomayor believes that the court is where policy is made. Check it out for yourself:

While this pick doesn't really bother me, being that she is replacing a liberal on the court and the direction of the court will stay the same, I am bothered by people that have a sense of disregard for the Constitution.

Courts do not make policy in this country. They are the guiders of individual liberty, and the Constitution of the United States. Period!

Now if we can just get that through their thick skulls...

What Rights Have Americans Lost?

Yesterday on Memorial Day, Glenn Beck did a discussion with a studio audience on what rights Americans have lost.

It is imperative we understand the direction the government of the United States is taking us, and this discussion sheds light on what people really think is going on, and where we are going:

It is time we fight back, and reclaim our individual liberty.

In Honor of Memorial Day-Protect Our Financial Future

While everyone across the country is honoring the wars that brave men and women have fought to protect our freedoms and liberties, I am going to change it up a little and showcase a greater threat to this nation that must be fixed in order to ensure that we can honor this great country and the brave soldiers who have died protecting her.

This is the 30 minute version of I.O.U.S.A. and it should be seen by everyone in this country, including our elected officials:

Obama Says We Are Out of Money...But Does He Really Care?

In an interview this weekend, President Obama declared that we are out of money as a country.

Here is a transcript:

SCULLY: You know the numbers, $1.7 trillion debt, a national deficit of $11 trillion. At what point do we run out of money?

OBAMA: Well, we are out of money now. We are operating in deep deficits, not caused by any decisions we've made on health care so far. This is a consequence of the crisis that we've seen and in fact our failure to make some good decisions on health care over the last several decades.

So we've got a short-term problem, which is we had to spend a lot of money to salvage our financial system, we had to deal with the auto companies, a huge recession which drains tax revenue at the same time it's putting more pressure on governments to provide unemployment insurance or make sure that food stamps are available for people who have been laid off.

So we have a short-term problem and we also have a long-term problem. The short-term problem is dwarfed by the long-term problem. And the long-term problem is Medicaid and Medicare. If we don't reduce long-term health care inflation substantially, we can't get control of the deficit.

The next question to ask is if Obama really cares that we are out of money? He talks in this interview about fixing the problems of Medicare and Medicaid, but he is currently pushing a national health care policy. He blames our financial problems on the previous administration, but the hard fact is that the policies he is trying to implement will result in even more problems strikingly similar (if on a larger scale) to those brought about by Bush and so many of his predecessors.

When is the R3VOLUTION?

The Plunge of the Dollar

The one thing that will bring this nation to it's knees is the collapse of the Dollar, and the politicians in Washington couldn't care less about the situation.

From the AP:

NEW YORK (AP) - The dollar kept falling Friday, notching fresh multimonth lows against the euro, pound and yen as a warning that Britain's debt level may result in its credit rating being cut ricocheted into worries about the massive U.S. deficit.

The 16-nation euro rose to $1.4015 in morning trading from $1.3889 in New York late Thursday—its first time above $1.40 since Jan. 2.

It is hard to sit by and watch the disregard leaders in our government have for this crisis. This issue is paramount on a scale that has not been seen before. We are losing our ability to convince other nations of our stature.

This is exaclty what happens when you entrust a National Bank like the Federal Reserve with so much power. They disregard any kind of sensibility and print money like it is coming off trees.

Is Obama going to fix this? Probably not, he will just make the situation even worse by running up the budget deficit and the national debt.

State Ran T.V. Coming Out of the White House

The next step into Socialism, and Communism, is the existence of state ran television. Most people in this country wouldn't look at this hard, since we are surrounded by constant media, but the White House has decided to have it's own media reporting on events.

From ABC:

Read the TV pool report: "Your Pool was not allowed to go over and shoot POTUS with the team shooting hoops. We protested loudly."

Now we know why: Obama White House officials decided to do their own media report on the visit, complete with cuts, interviews, and chyrons identifying who's speaking.

Also, just like a network, they have their own little logo!

Cute!

The White House has decided to have it's own reporter that would report on the happenings of the President, interview people they seek fit to interview, and broadcast it as news.

Here is the video of this State Ran Television from the White House Youtube Page:

All hail Comrade Obama!

Ron Paul Debates Ed Schultz on the Constitution

In what I believe to be his best performance on television, Ron Paul debated Ed Schultz on "The Ed Show" on MSNBC yesterday.

Ed Schultz thinks it is preposterous that Ron Paul would want to cut the Department of Education, and the Department of Agriculture. However, Congressman Paul explained that the Departments were ineffective, and unconstitutional.

Here is video of the exchange:

Penn Jillette and Glenn Beck on the Role of Government and Common Sense

Where has the common sense in this country gone? Our elected officials have seemed to check it at the door when they serve the public in some capacity. What should be the role of government in our lives?

Glenn Beck and Penn Jillette have some insight into these questions.

Ron Paul--Prepare for Revolutionary Change

There is a storm brewing in this country, and it is going to result in revolutionary change. Congressman Ron Paul knows this, and this video is a must watch for anyone that has followed the news the past few years.

Current conditions or just a bad dream:

Medicare-Bankrupting America and Senior Citizens Don't Even Care

The debate about entitlement benefits have struck a cord among young people, but the senior citizens who receive the benefit couldn't care less.

This video, from ABC's John Stossel, showcases the medicare crisis in this country, and brings home the point that the system is tilted towards the older generation that is sucking the system dry:

Another reason to object big government policies...

Rand Paul the GOP's Future?

The Republican Party is in the process of searching for a leader that will take them back to the principles of free market economics, but the problem they have is the candidates and politicians they send out on the stump for the party, are the big government and anti-liberty type.

They ignore the true conservatives in politics, like Ron Paul, and if they bend over and pull their heads out of their a$#, they would see the future of the party, the type that would save it from collapse, is running for U.S. Senate in Kentucky...Rand Paul (son of Ron Paul).

Listen to this interview with Dr. Rand Paul, and if you don't think this is what conservatism really is, than you might as well declare the Republicans dead:

Let California Be a Lesson....Big Government is Catastrophic

Conservatives and libertarians argue against big government for a very good reason: as a government continues to grow, the liberty of its people proportionally decreases. Moreover, as government grows it can no longer sustain itself, and will eventually collapse, as it apparently has done in California. From the LA Times:

On Thursday a small group of Senate and Assembly members will hold the first of what's expected to be a slew of daily public sessions to wrangle over the details of the budget.

Schwarzenegger has called for cuts that would hit every corner of the state. He announced plans to lay off 5,000 of the state's 235,000 workers and has proposed slashing education by up to $5 billion, selling state properties, borrowing $2 billion from local governments and potentially reducing eligibility for healthcare programs.

Like far too many states, the government of California has sought to satisfy all its citizens' desires, a project which has resulted in an untenably booming budget. Rather than truly dealing with reality, however, Schwarzenegger has decided to turn to the federal government for help:

The governor also wants to borrow up to $6 billion, but awaits word on whether Washington would guarantee those loans. The White House has never done so for the state but is considering the action as Wall Street expresses concern that California could become a deadbeat borrower.

By abandoning the principles of small government, California seems to have put itself in a position from which it may never recover.

What True Conservatism Really Is

This website is called "Conservative for Change," but I have never explained what that really means.

Conservatism had been hijacked by big government, and uber religious Republicans. True conservatism rests in the principles of Classical Liberalism, and the only reason we don't call ourselves Liberals today, is the term was hijacked by FDR in the 1930's to promote his New Deal.

Here are the tenets of true Conservatism, or Classical Liberalism:

1. Individual autonomy

The basis of society is the individual. Humans are primarily motivated by self-interest.

2. Individual rights

If the individual is autonomous, then all individuals must be free and equal. This implies political equality, the protection of individual rights, respect for individual choices, and the use of reason in making decisions. "I am free and thus I rule myself." The key individual rights are freedom of speech, freedom of assembly, freedom of worship, and the right to property.

3. Religious toleration

Individuals and the state must respect one's right to worship as one pleases. Implies a separation of church and state.

4. Popular sovereignty and consent

Government should be ruled by the people rather than by a monarch, a religious figure, or some other elite. Government's legitimacy rests on the consent of the governed..

5. Limited and representative government

The government's role in society and the scope of its power should be clearly defined. The purpose of government is to protect individual's life, liberty, and property. Further, in a society of autonomous individuals pursuing their own self-interests, government must represent the various interests of that society. This implies representative government, majority rule, constitutional government, and the rule of law.

6. Private property

Society should generally encourage the private accumulation of property rather than place restrictions on it. This implies an economy of free markets, equality of opportunity in the market, and competition. In sum, liberalism defends capitalism.

7. Universalism and progress

All people are fundamentally the same. Differences of culture, religion, race, gender, nationality, etc. are ultimately superficial. Overall, liberalism tends to interpret historically progressively: society, economy, technology are all advancing and elevating the human condition in the process.

These tenets are also the basics of Libertarianism. This is why we have the quote by Ronald Reagan "The Very Heart and Soul of Conservatism is Libertarianism." He said this because he understood that these beliefs, that were just stated, are Libertarian ideas, and true Conservatism rests on these principles.

Conservative for Change is about promoting these ideas as true Conservatism, and getting away from the hijacked meaning that the Republican Party has promoted the last 8 years.

Liberty for all, and Freedom for all.

Mark Sanford in the Defense of Libertarians

With our recent post about Lindsey Graham attacking Ron Paul Republicans, and Libertarianism, we have found a video of the Governor of South Carolina Mark Sanford coming to the defense of Libertarians, and the attacks by Senator Graham.

Check it out:

If you haven't already done so, check out more information about Mark Sanford...you will be pleased with what you read.

Lindsey Graham Attacks Ron Paul Supporters...Suggests they Should Leave the Republican Party

For awhile now, Senator Lindsey Graham of South Carolina has been saying that Ron Paul is not the leader of the Republican Party. Over the weekend he suggested that anyone who thinks the government violated the Constitution by waging undeclared wars or criticizes our involvement in the Middle East should get out of the Republican Party.

He also attacked Libertarians like it was a bad thing to hold these beliefs.

Here is the video clip of his remarks bashing Ron Paul supporters and Libertarians:

This is coming from the same guy that tries to portray himself as a real Conservative, when he is not even close to what true conservatism really is. He is another big government neo-con that believes anything John McCain tells him, and sucks up to the Republican National Committee to save his seat every time he is up for re-election.

I say leave the Republican Party Senator Graham, it is people like you that are destroying it...Ron Paul represents what true conservatism needs to be.

Joe Biden Gives Location of Secret V.P. Bunker

Joe Biden has been gaffe prone since entering his office as second in charge of the country, and his latest one tops all of them on a certain scale.

Apparently he gave up the existence of the secret bunker that the Vice-President uses in the event of an attack on Washington D.C. or for other purposes.

From Fox News:

Vice President Joe Biden, well-known for his verbal gaffes, may have finally outdone himself, divulging potentially classified information meant to save the life of a sitting vice president.

According to a report, while recently attending the Gridiron Club dinner in Washington, an annual event where powerful politicians and media elite get a chance to cozy up to one another, Biden told his dinnermates about the existence of a secret bunker under the old U.S. Naval Observatory, which is now the home of the vice president.

The bunker is believed to be the secure, undisclosed location former Vice President Dick Cheney remained under protection in secret after the 9/11 attacks.

Giving up the existence of the bunker is probably not that big of a deal since we all know that Dick Cheney used it after the attacks on 9/11, but Biden gave up the location!

The incompetence of this guy runs high, and this latest goof shows why...this is the person next in line to the Presidency?? God help us all if he becomes President and just gives everyone the nuclear launch codes!

Rand Paul to Make Major Announcement Tonight...Running for U.S. Senate (KY)

We wrote a couple weeks ago about Congressman Ron Paul's son Rand considering a run at the United States Senate for the state of Kentucky.

Well, word is coming out that his major announcement tonight on MSNBC's Rachael Maddow Show is his announcement for the United States Senate currently held by Jim Bunning.

***Update, here is the video of the announcement***

This is from his Facebook invitation to watch the show tonight:

Rand Paul is going to make a MAJOR announcement on Rachel Maddow's show Thursday night (5/14)! It will be worth watching as Rand has discussed a potential run for US Senate from Kentucky.

For the past fifteen years, Dr. Rand Paul, son of Congressman Dr. Ron Paul, has been the chairman of the Kentucky Taxpayers United, a group that monitors and rates the State Legislature. Dr. Paul has been traveling the state of Kentucky for the past several months meeting, talking, and gauging his support.

We are delighted at Conservative for Change to support Rand in his run to bring the messages of Freedom and Liberty to the United States Senate.

Bentley Rayburn and the Forgotten Senate Race

The race for 2010 is starting to take form across the country and one of the big states to be looking at is my home Colorado. With Michael Bennett, the appointed senator to fill Ken Salazar's seat, looking vulenrable some names have started to float around. We have talked about Ryan Frazier here on this blog, and now I want to introduce you to a candidate that I have respect for.

This piece was written by Adam Brickley at Race42008.com:

We’ve talked about a lot of races here at R4’12, and in the absence of an active presidential primary we’ve dwelt on a lot of Senate contests. However, we very rarely talk about one of the best potential pickups for the GOP in 2010: Michael Bennet’s seat in Colorado. Bennet, you may recall, was the Denver school superintendent appointed to serve out the term of now-Secretary Ken Salazar – and he has absolutely tanked in the polls.

While he does stand a chance, Bennet has extreme difficulty polling above 45% in any matchup, and loses to credible Republicans when polled against them. However, while I was back in Colorado last week for my little sister’s graduation, I was appalled to find that the local GOP is overly fixated on the upcoming gubernatorial race, and that the highly vulnerable Bennet may keep his seat simply because the Republicans can’t find a credible challenger. Up to now, only two candidates have entered our primary – and both poll behind Bennet (keep in mind that Bob Beauprez , who got positively squished by Bill Ritter when he ran for governor, polls slightly ahead of Bennet if he were to run).

In one corner, we have Ken Buck – the ultra-conservative D.A. from Weld County. He seems nice – but he is unknown and lacking in charisma. His campaign, up to now, has been a comedy of errors, and while I have nothing against him – he’s not going to win. In the opposite corner is the Ryan Frazier – a young city councilman from the Denver suburb of Aurora. He has the benefit of being young, charismatic, and black – drawing lots of Obama comparisons - but he simply lacks the gravitas to pull this off. Furthermore, he has a reputation as either “very moderate” or libertarian (depending on who you talk to) making it harder to play to the primary electorate out West. Let us remember that Obama, who at least managed to get into the State Senate before going national, only got his Senate seat because of the implosion of his opponents in both the primary and the general election – and Frazier will not be so lucky. He has potential, but he is not even close to ready.

So, we have a dilemma. Neither of the current candidates can win, and almost nobody else wants in. RNC Committeeman Mark Hillman took a pass, and State Senate Minority Leader Josh Penry is leaning toward a run for Governor instead. I personally don’t like the idea of handing the seat to Bennet without a fight – so the only choice we have is to start thinking outside the box and looking for other willing, electable candidates. This brings me to the man I think we should be begging to get in the race. Ladies and gentlemen, I’d like you to meet Major General Bentley Rayburn, U.S. Air Force (Retired).

The general burst onto the scene in 2006, when he made a run for Congress in the state’s fifth district. Despite an absurdly late entry into the primary and a total lack of name recognition, Rayburn shocked everyone by coming third in a crowded six-man primary - besting the sitting mayor Colorado Springs, who came fourth. In my opinion, Rayburn only lost because he was still busy commanding troops while the top two candidates had been building massive local organizations. Personally, I thought he was a joke when he got into that race – but nobody was laughing when he pulled 17% of the vote in an election where the winner (Doug Lamborn) only got about 29%. After that race, I got to know the general personally, and I came to realize that he was the real deal – a solid leader, an honorable man, and the type of no-nonsense guy we need in Washington. The top three candidates from the 2006 race (Rayburn, Lamborn, and talk show host Jeff Crank) quickly started moving toward a primary rematch in 2008, and I knew immediately that General Rayburn was my guy (I had previously supported sixth-place Duncan Bremer, brother of L. Paul Bremer – and for the record I wouldn’t mind seeing Duncan back in politics either).

While Rayburn came third again in the 2008 primary, he improved his vote share to 26% (just 3% short of second place) and picked up a number of high profile endorsements - including Colorado Springs Mayor Lionel Rivera. He may not have made it to Congress, but after only two years in politics, Bentley Rayburn had clearly established himself as a force to be reckoned with.

The general’s name was floated for the Senate in 2008, and he has drawn a few mentions for the next cycle, but not many. However, with several leading contenders bowing out and only Buck and Frazier in the race, I would hope that we start talking about him. Seriously, if you had the choice between a rural D.A., a suburban city councilman, or a two-star general who used to be Commandant of the Air War College – who would you pick?

Bentley’s conservative credentials are impeccable on both the fiscal, social, and national security fronts – and he has an extremely tight grasp of both foreign and domestic policy. The only thing that might hold him back is that a lot of the state GOP leadership supported Jeff Crank in the 2008 congressional race, and Mr. Crank has vocally blamed General Rayburn for the fact that he is not in Congress today (an absurd claim, as Doug Lamborn finished way ahead of Crank in the 2008 primary with 45% - and a high number of Rayburn supporters preferred Lamborn over Crank anyway). Either way, when it comes to getting rid of Senator Bennet, I would hope that we can bury the proverbial hatchet and just put a good candidate in the race.

Bentley Rayburn has the experience, the gravitas, and the charisma to take down Michael Bennet - and there is no good reason why the National Republican Senatorial Committee should not be pounding down his door and throwing money at him.

Am I crazy for suggesting this? Maybe – but I’d like to hear from anyone who thinks they have a better idea. And no, “let’s take our chances with Buck and/or Frasier” does not qualify as a “better idea”. I don’t want a questionable candidate who will have trouble taking down one of America’s most vulnerable Senators – I want someone who can pound Michael Bennet into the ground without breaking a sweat. In my opinion, if he were to win the nomination, General Rayburn could do just that.

GPS Tracking by Police Without Search Warrants

In the day and age we are living in, more and more people are becoming fearful of their government and rightly so. And this story coming out of Wisconsin will make you even more fearful:

MADISON, Wis. -

Wisconsin police can attach GPS to cars to secretly track anybody’s movements without obtaining search warrants, an appeals court ruled Thursday.

However, the District 4 Court of Appeals said it was “more than a little troubled” by that conclusion and asked Wisconsin lawmakers to regulate GPS use to protect against abuse by police and private individuals.

As the law currently stands, the court said police can mount GPS on cars to track people without violating their constitutional rights – even if the drivers aren’t suspects.

Officers do not need to get warrants beforehand because GPS tracking does not involve a search or a seizure, Judge Paul Lundsten wrote for the unanimous three-judge panel based in Madison.

It seems that the court doesn't believe this to be an illegal search, even though they can put the GPS on a car of anybody...you don't even have to be a suspect! So, after they put the GPS on your car they are able to track everywhere you go, and eventually follow you until you might commit a crime.

According to the court the police can come onto your private property, such as a driveway or open garage, and attach the device. The court doesn't believe that to be an unreasonable search? If that isn't, I have no idea what is.

Watch out...here comes communism!

The Return of the Sugar Act (1776 Style)

The Sugar Act...a tax introduced in the revolutionary age of America to gain revenue for the British Empire. It now seems that the current federal government is considering a new tax on sugar users through the avenue of soda pop.

From CBS News:

The Senate Finance Committee today is hearing proposals on how to pay for President Obama's proposed universal health care plan, which is expected to cost more than $1 trillion. Among the proposals, as Consumer Affairs reports: A three-cent tax on sodas as well as other sugary drinks, including energy and sports drinks like Gatorade. Diet sodas would be exempt.

That is pretty plain and simple to me...sugary drinks would be subject to taxing, but diet sodas would be exempt because they contain no sugar.

This is what it has come too? The federal government is pulling a trick from the hat of 1776 British policies? Or it could just be the ultimate nanny state stunt to try and tell free people how to live their lives.

Soda isn't the only potential health risk involved. There is also a proposal to raise the tax on tobacco products in this country.

This is just the governments sad attempt of trying to pay for an ineffective national health care program, and it gives them a way to tell us our lives are theirs for the legislating.

After Blasting CEO's for Vegas Trips, Obama Plans Fundrasier in Sin City

After companies that seemed to be in trouble with financial assets chose to have corporate meetings in Las Vegas, President Barack Obama in his disregard for the conduct of business on all levels blasted these companies for taking trips either on the taxpaying dollar, or while they were struggling.

Well it looks like the President will be taking a taxpaying junket to the Sin City itself to raise massive amounts of money for the potentially vulnerable Senator Harry Reid of Nevada.

From the LA Times:

Harry Reid's no slouch in the fundraising department, with $3.3 million already on hand for next year's reelection campaign, which has thus far drawn lots of press too.

Though the Democratic Senate majority leader's May 26 fundraiser at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace will feature Strip headliner Midler and songstress Crow, the biggest draw will be the commander in chief himself.

Nevada's glitterati have been clamoring for a visit since Obama turned the swing state blue, though we suspect the president might want to steer clear of some parts of town.

The reckless disregard this President has for politics over principle is staggering. He makes the comments that CEO's shouldn't be having meetings in cities such as Las Vegas, which in turn hurts business in the city, but he goes ahead and chooses to participate in a fundraiser for a political friend in hopes of retaining power in Washington.

The LA Times also reports on the fallacies of this administration and pathetic attempt of spending tax dollars:

Well, now that they have finished the $357,012 taxpayer-funded photo op over the Statue of Liberty, Air Force One is coming to the capital of neon with the somewhat-less-new president, who'll become the fundraiser in chief at least for a night.

It is still hard to believe this man is President...I wish people would just pinch me and save me from this dream that makes my life as a blogger so much easier.

Ron Paul on Runaway Inflation and the Budget Deficit

With the new numbers coming out of the White House projecting the budget deficit up to almost $2 Trillion, one has to wonder what the heck is going on in Washington.

Congressman Ron Paul, one of the very few in Washington who gets it, can explain the problem like a pro:

ACORN Fraud in Nevada: Over Half the Votes in Vegas Could Be Fraudulent

The 2008 election has passed, and some people are going to tell me to just drop it...Obama won, but I answer did he win fairly? There are new allegations coming out of Nevada, that might suggest that over half of the votes in Las Vegas could be fraudulent. This might have turned the state to Obama, and John McCain should have won the state.

The Secretary of State of Nevada, a Democrat, believes the votes might have been a fraud, and he is prosecuting. Here is a video of his interview on Fox News, along with a former ACORN worker who is critical of the organization:

This is a serious allegation, and not everyone in the media is following this story. The only ones really are Fox News, and bloggers like this website.

Even if this allegation is true, and it turned out John McCain would have won the state, it still wouldn't tip the election away from Obama, but the question is how widespread is this case? Could there be other states that were affected by ACORN, and could possibly have influenced the outcome of the election?

We will continue to follow this story as it unfolds, and report on the Secretary of States findings.

Wanda Sykes Wishes Rush Limbaugh's Death and Obama Finds it Amusing

While politics is a place for attacks on issues, and sometimes character, it is not a place for calling people who fight everyday for the soul of their countries treasonous, or wishing that their political opponents would die.

Well, that was the case with Barack Obama and Wanda Sykes at the Correspondents dinner, and their attack on Rush Limbaugh. Watch the video for yourself:

This always the case...the Democrats have nothing better to do than attack somebody like Rush Limbaugh who holds zero political offices, but has the ability to influence the true meaning of life in this country. And that hampers their ability to retain power in Washington and promote their agenda of destruction.

What they fail to miss is that Rush doesn't want the country to fail, but rather Obama's policies that will make the country fail. They don't compute this since they believe everything revolves around them, and their socialistic ways are the only ones that will produce results.

Federal Reserve Inspector General Unable to Tell Congress What Goes on at the Fed

The Federal Reserve Inspector General was recently unable to tell Rep. Alan Grayson what goes on at the Federal Reserve and who has been receiving the trillions of dollars they created.

Watch the video:

This is why it is essential to support H.R. 1207, or the Federal Reserve Transparency Act, which would give the GAO the power to audit what the Inspector General is unable to audit. This would provide details into the functions of the Fed, and how they are wasting tax dollars everyday.

Tax Dollars Being Used to Study Gay Sex in Argentina Bars

While it is obvious that I am a Libertarian and I support gay rights, I find this story coming out of Fox News incredibly disturbing:

Government researchers are spending more than $400,000 in taxpayer money to hit the bars in Argentina.

The National Institutes of Health are paying researchers to cruise six bars in Buenos Aires to find out why gay men engage in risky sexual behavior while drunk -- and just what can be done about it.

This is one of those stories that is just hard to believe. We all know our government wastes money on stupid projects, but using it to study a social habit in another country is beyond insane.

Another aspect that just seems stupid is that they are studying the effect of alcohol and sexual behavior...if they wanted to do that, they could go and study American bars on a Friday or Saturday night, and they wouldn't even need money to do it (only to buy a drink).

And the politicians wonder why we are in debt...

Knock Knock!....It's the IRS Cops

Everyone in this country dreads paying their taxes every year, and for a lot of Americans they fear one day an IRS agent will come knocking on their door to ruin their lives for years to come.

Well it seems that Mr. Socialism himself, President Obama wants to increase the number of IRS Cops that will enforce tax laws on an individual level, and corporate level.

From Reuters:

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - President Barack Obama proposed on Thursday nearly doubling funds to enforce U.S. tax laws next year, with an aim of more than quadrupling funding for tax compliance to $2.1 billion within five years.

The budget plan seeks $12.1 billion for the Internal Revenue Service, responsible for collecting and enforcing individual and corporate tax laws in fiscal 2010 that begins October 1.

That amount includes a $890 million request to boost tax enforcement, including in the international arena, an increase of $400 million from 2009.

This means more fear amongest the people of this country, and as Thomas Jefferson once said, "When the people fear the government, it is Tyranny. But when the government fears the people, it is Liberty"

Obama Releases $3.4 Trillion Budget

"We can no longer afford to spend as if deficits don't matter and waste is not our problem."

"We can no longer afford to leave the hard choices for the next budget, the next administration -- or the next generation."

Those are two quotes from President Barack Obama after releasing his plan for the largest budget in recent times, and one that will result in the largest deficit.

Seems a little bit ironic to me...

The Washington Post has the details:

The Obama administration today unveiled details of a $3.4 trillion federal budget for the fiscal year beginning in October, a proposal that includes substantial increases for a number of domestic priorities as well as a plan to trim or eliminate 121 programs at a savings of $17 billion.

It seems that this President is caught up in a fantasy land, and he wonders why ordinary Americans rally at Tea Parties in opposition to his socialistic agenda? This is an agenda that will bring the hammer down on the God given right of Individual Liberty.

On top of bailouts for private companies, and economic stimulus, that debt clock to your right will continue to rise for many years to come. If this President thinks that we need to protect the future generations, then someone should hit him over the head with a shovel to wake him up from his socialistic minded fixation.

WAKE UP AMERICA!!! THIS IS A R3VOLUTION!

Glenn Beck Kicks Acorn Off Fox News Set

I was watching Glenn Beck's program last night after work, and was intrigued by an interview with the national spokesperson for ACORN. Beck was trying to get an answer about the convictions of ACORN employees in 14 different states, and the fraud that they imposed in the 2008 elections that probably helped Barack Obama become President.

The ACORN guy tried to blame it on rouge employees, but Glenn wouldn't have it, and eventually kicked him off his set for race baiting.

Here is the video of this exchange:

Hopefully Glenn's team can find some recording of this guy calling him a black hater. These types of organizations are out to rig elections and demonize anyone that doesn't agree with their agenda.

Know Your Rights

It is essential to know your rights under the law, and especially the Fifth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. Despite what some may believe, true conservatives believe fully in the principles of civil liberties. We are against the Patriot Act, against law enforcement over stepping their boundaries, etc.

Watch this video from a former criminal defense attorney to understand why you shouldn't talk to the police:

Teenager Arrested Under the Patriot Act

A teenager in North Carolina was taken from his home in the middle of the night by Federal Agents accusing him of bomb threats and he is now a suspected terrorist.

This is a video from the local news affiliate:

For the defenders of the Patriot Act, would you want to be caught up in a misunderstanding under this law? I would imagine not; but our government is stripping us of our civil liberties under the name of patriotism.

This boys mother hasn't even had hardly any contact with her son, and it seems he wasn't even given a chance to defend himself...probably wasn't even questioned, just arrested as a suspected terrorist and carted off to another state to be placed in confinement.

Ron Paul Takes on Fed Chair

With the Audit the Fed bill up to 124 Co-Sponsors, Ron Paul took Federal Reserve Chair Ben Bernanke to town on the role of the Fed.

Here is the video of this exchange:

Ron Paul's Son Rand Considering U.S. Senate Run

The son of Congressman Ron Paul, the defender of the Constitution and Liberty, is seriously considering a run for the United States Senate in the state of Kentucky.

From CNN:

(CNN) - The son of former Republican presidential hopeful Rep. Ron Paul said Monday that he is primed to mount a bid for the Kentucky Senate seat currently occupied by GOP Sen. Jim Bunning.

"I am very serious about running for Sen. Bunning's seat if he decides not to run," 46-year-old Rand Paul told CNN.
"Until he makes a final pronouncement, I'm trying not to do anything formally but I'm very close to making a decision."

The younger Paul's views closely resemble those of his conservative father.

This is great news, and it would be a great way to continue the Ron Paul Revolution.

Rand is just like his father in terms of the beliefs that he holds, and the allegiance he holds those beliefs too. He is a defender Freedom and Liberty, and this blog is 100% behind this run for the U.S. Senate.

Ron Paul Predicted the Economic Collapse and is Still Ignored

He was widely ignored during the Presidential campaign of 2008, and the the main stream media didn't hear his warning signs on the economy; and still Ron Paul is shut out of the Republican Party because of his stern beliefs.

Watch this video:

This is the direction the Republican Party needs to take, and if it fails to do so, than they will see an exodus away from their party and their fake candidates.

We will keep making it a point to prop up this great man, and anyone who understands the true function of government and has the solutions to fixing our problems.

White House Reporters Stand for Obama...Not Bush

I came across an interesting video today that shows the press reaction to Obama compared to Bush. It appears that the press these days makes it a point to stand up whenever Obama comes into a room...but they never had that reaction to President Bush.

Check out this video:

It is interesting how fast they pop up for Obama. It just proves the love the media has for this man, and level of egotism that he possesses.

The President is not the all supreme leader and doesn't require this type of attention. He is suppose to be one of the people.

The Supreme Court is Not a Single Issue Body

Already, just a few days after announcing his retirement from the Supreme Court, the abortion advocates are coming out in full force at the possible replacement for Justice David Souter.

The Politico Reports the following:

President Barack Obama’s first Supreme Court pick could reignite the fight over abortion rights, forcing the new administration to engage on some of the thorny social issues it has largely been able to avoid during its first few months in office.

Both of President Bush's appointments to the court faced tough questions during conformation about abortion, and the perception was given to the American people that abortion is the only issue the Supreme Court decides.

The Politico is already talking about the GOP fight against a nominee that would support a right to chose. But what needs to happen is both sides of the political spectrum need to drop their single issues opposition to a nominee because of abortion and focus on their allegiance to the Constitution, and the strict interpretation of the document.

The Supreme Court decides on a number of issues in it's terms that have nothing to do with abortion. 99.9% of the time, the cases coming out of the court have to do with real law, and the media doesn't talk about these cases. The .1% of the cases are the controversial ones, and that is what the American people get to see.

It is about time we get people serving in government that actually pay attention to the Constitution, and stop looking for political reasons not to allow these people to serve.

Supreme Court Justice David Souter Retiring....No Change in the Court

David Souter, Associate Justice of the United States Supreme Court, has announced his retirement from the court.

As NPR reports:

Supreme Court Justice David Souter is planning to retire at the end of the current court term.

The vacancy will give President Obama his first chance to name a member of the high court and begin to shape its future direction.

First off, the debate is going to heat up in this country on the possible replacement for Justice Souter, but the one thing that is going to be missed, and it was already missed in the NPR report, is nothing is going to change on the Supreme Court.

The NPR report lied big time, Obama does not get to shape the future of the court by replacing a liberal justice with another liberal one. Jurisprudence will stay the same, and most of the decisions will stay the same as well.

The one legacy of President Bush was his ability to shape the direction of the court because he was able to replace a swing vote with a conservative vote.

There is no need to worry, we will only have to worry if a Roberts, Thomas, Alito, Scalia, or Kennedy resign for die. That will be shaping the future.
