Congress Finally Paying Attention to Ron Paul

It was 26 years ago that Ron Paul first introduced a bill to audit the Federal Reserve, and back then it only had 18 co-sponsors. The bill eventually died in committee, and never came to the house floor. Now it is 2009 and in February, Ron Paul introduced the same type of bill and in 4 months has reached 245 co-sponsors.

Congress, and Republicans alike, have overlooked Ron Paul as a Congressman that just votes no on everything. While he does vote no on most legislation, he has been a tireless worker for freedom and liberty in the Congress.

This new bill to audit the fed is proof that he knows what he is talking about. He is one of the few in Congress that understands the monetary system in the United States, and every time he questions the Fed chair, you can see how uncomfortable he makes them.

You would think with over 245 co-sponsors, or a majority of the House, that the bill would be making its way through the Congress. But Fox News reports otherwise:

Unfortunately for Paul, the bill appears to be idling in the House Financial Services Committee, which is chaired by Barney Frank, D-Mass. The bill has been sitting there, gathering co-sponsors, since Paul introduced it in late February.

Why is Barney Frank sitting on this legislation that has huge support by the members? Is there something he doesn't want us to know?

I suggest everyone start emailing and call Barney Frank's office and demand a hearing on this bill, H.R. 1207. I would then demand that it be sent out of committee and put up to a full vote by the House. The American people deserve to know how their money is being spent by monetary thugs.

Supreme Court to Reconsider McCain-Feingold Campaign Finance Reform

In a suprising move the U.S. Supreme Court will reconsider the McCain-Feingold campaign finance reform law. This is a rather promising sign for freedom and could suggest an overturn by the court.

From the Politico:

In a sign that the Supreme Court is seriously considering overturning one of the underpinnings of modern campaign finance rules, Chief Justice John Roberts on Monday announced that justices would rehear a case challenging restrictions on corporate-funded campaign ads.

The result of the argument, which is scheduled for September 9, could reshape the way American political campaigns are waged on the precipice of the 2010 midterm and the 2012 presidential elections.

This is a good sign for lovers of freedom and liberty. This bill tampers with the rights of people to participate in the political process. It caps the amount of money one can give a political candidate and corporate expenditures.

Political speech is protected by the First Amendment and the McCain-Feingold law suffocates that speech. We will be flowing this very closely.

Supreme Court Overrules Obama Court Pick

In a blow to President Obama and his pick of Sonia Sotomayor for the Supreme Court, the current court overturned one of her more controversial decisions.

From the Washington Post:

WASHINGTON -- The Supreme Court has ruled that white firefighters in New Haven, Conn., were unfairly denied promotions because of their race, reversing a decision that high court nominee Sonia Sotomayor endorsed as an appeals court judge.

New Haven was wrong to scrap a promotion exam because no African-Americans and only two Hispanic firefighters were likely to be made lieutenants or captains based on the results, the court said Monday in a 5-4 decision. The city said that it had acted to avoid a lawsuit from minorities.

The ruling could alter employment practices nationwide, potentially limiting the circumstances in which employers can be held liable for decisions when there is no evidence of intentional discrimination against minorities.

This ruling shows that Sotomayor is just a race baiter, and took her vengeance out against a group of white firefighters who sacrifice their lives every single day.

But, I will reiterate, this court pick will still make it through the Senate, and Republicans shouldn't spend their time trying to take her down. They will only lose the fight and look idiotic doing so.

I Am Through With the Republican Party

I have always classified myself as a Libertarian Republican, and have stayed a registered Republican. True Conservatism rests in the ideals of Libertarianism, but the Conservative label has been tarnished by neo-cons in the recent years. There are good people in the Republican Party that are worthy of support from this blogger, and many that don't deserve support at all.

Ever since the election of Barack Obama, the Republican Party has been talking a big game. I voted Libertarian for President, and don't regret it one bit. John McCain would have been the same disaster that Obama has been, it just would have taken him a little longer to get there. The Republicans are trying to show themselves as the party they should be, but they are still having issues reigning in their own. They talk this game, but still hold ideals that don't conform to true Conservatism. It has become a showboat for the Party itself, and that is what has caused this turmoil.

The Party could care less about the issues, and more about making sure their opponents are eaten alive. This was easy to see during the past campaigns that I worked on during college, and it is no different today. The party could care less about who they put up as a candidate, and more about winning. They shun out people that actually stand for something and refuse to conform to their talking points. This is what happened to Ron Paul, and people like him.

This recent vote on the Cap and Trade bill is the tipping point for me. This bill has so much to do with how we live our lives as free people, and still 8 Republicans voted for the bill. Our Liberties are God given and both parties have trampled on this God given right and pushed us further into tyrannical rule.

I have been on the verge of switching my party registration and now is the time. But don't worry...I am not becoming a Democrat. I am through with the two party system, and believe it is time to actually stand for something. I am re-registering as a Libertarian.

Ronald Reagan once said that the heart and soul of Conservatism is Libertarianism. True Conservatives stand for civil liberties, free markets, non-interventionist foreign policy, and small government. We stand for the rights of the people, and protect their Liberties. The current leadership of the Republican Party bypasses all of these principles for the sake of winning elections, and this is why we get 8 Republicans that vote for big government control over our lives.

This is the point of this website. It is called Conservative for Change because it is time we get away from the neo-cons and actually preach true Conservatism. Conservatism is labeled the way it is because we don't follow the true path. Conservatism believes that government doesn't have a right to tell people how to live their lives. That is freedom and liberty and it is something every American should stand for.

I will continue to support Republicans if they actually have the ability to act on what they say on the campaign trail. Right now the only Republican I support in Congress is Ron Paul, and hopefully there can be more one day. However, it is time to stand up and find truth in the path for freedom.

Cap and Trade Passes House Because of 8 Republicans

The Republican Party wonders why they can't get their stuff together, and it is because they say one thing on the campaign trail, and do another once they are elected.

The Cap and Trade Bill just passed the House by 2 votes, and if that wasn't bad enough, there was 8 Republicans that voted for the bill. If it wasn't for these arrogant idiots, then this country would have been saved from destruction.

The bill now goes to the Senate, and we must focus our efforts there, but once I get the names of these Republicans, you can bet I will be posting them right here on this website, so We the People have a chance to make our voice heard, and express our displeasure with them.

The 8 Republicans

This bill was voted on without even being read. It was pushed through the Congress in a month, when bills usually take forever to see the House Floor. This is tyranny against the American people; this act of tyranny should be spread across this great land.

If this gets to the President's desk then We the People will see higher utility bills, higher gas prices, higher grocery prices, higher prices all across the country. Businesses will collapse to their knees to pay for this, and so will the ordinary American.

Even Greenpeace came out today and said this bill will do nothing for the global climate change problem we apparently suffer from. This is a power grab by the big government socialists to have more control over our lives. They seek to tell us how to live, and this is why R3VOLUTION is on its way.

Breaking News---Cap and Trade Being Pulled?

It is being reported that the Cap and Trade bill, which is suppose to be up for vote in the next hour and a half is being pulled by the Speaker.

The National Review is the only one reporting on this:

Word flying around D.C. as of 1:30 is that Waxman-Markey is being pulled, suggesting Pelosi doesn't have the votes. It may be they need a little more time to buy off one or two more people, or possibly they simply can't get enough committed votes (I am sure more than a few Democrats say they will vote "Yes" as necessary, but have a deal for cover with a "No" vote, which is complicating the whip count). Stay tuned. As Drudge would say, developing . . .

This could be good news if true, and means our efforts have paid off.

The capitol switchboard is busy right now; probably flooded with phone calls, but I will update once I get some conformation.

******UPDATE*******

When I tried to call the Speakers office, I was transferred to her press people, and when I asked whether or not the bill was being pulled from the floor, the person I was speaking with said "I'm sorry" and hung up on me.

And they are the representatives of the people?

Redstate is reporting the following:

Democrats are starting a rumor that they’ve yanked cap and trade from the floor. I’m hearing it is a ruse. They are short votes and stalling to get more.

What if Government Ran Health Care?

The health care debate is getting tense in Washington D.C. and we ask the question, what if government ran health care? Who would be in charge of your care?

Well, the boys at Reason T.V. have an answer to that, in the style of a Sprint AD:

Call Your Congressman to Stop Cap and Trade Today

The Congress will be voting this afternoon, early evening, to strip away more liberty from you, and the American way.

We need to stop Cap and Trade, and make sure that Washington actually cares about the American people instead of ruining their lives. They are slipping this through underneath national health care, and this issue might do more damage than health care. Also, this will not be in the news today because of the death of Michael Jackson, and apparently that is more important than the sake of this Republic.

Click here to get contact information for your representative.

Watch this video if you are not familiar with this issue, and get on the horn with your Congressman right now!

More Reasons to Support H.R. 1207--Audit the Fed Bill

It seems that there was some shady dealing that went down with the merger between the Bank of America and Merill Lynch. The Federal Reserve denies any wrongdoing and says that they didn't strong arm anybody.

However, the testimony from heads of each banks suggest otherwise, and the Fed chairman denies the accusations. Here is video of Congressman Dan Burton grilling Ben Bernanke about this deal:

"It's time to yank the shroud off the Fed and shine some light on these events," said U.S. House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform Chairman Edolphus Towns, D-N.Y., who in an opening statement repeatedly described the Fed as being "shrouded in secrecy."

This is why it is vital that the Congress pass H.R. 1207 and open up the Fed for an audit and transparency. Spread the word, and call your Congressman. It is time we know how our money is being spent and where.

Dems Claim Cap and Trade Bill Defies the Laws of Economics

In an effort to pass a climate bill in Congress, the Democrats might pull out all stops to push this legislation through. The Cap and Trade bill would be one of the largest increases in taxes on the American business and people.

Also, the Dems feel that the bill defies the laws of economics, and they are okay with pushing it through anyway. From the Wall Street Journal:

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has put cap-and-trade legislation on a forced march through the House, and the bill may get a full vote as early as Friday. It looks as if the Democrats will have to destroy the discipline of economics to get it done.

Despite House Energy and Commerce Chairman Henry Waxman's many payoffs to Members, rural and Blue Dog Democrats remain wary of voting for a bill that will impose crushing costs on their home-district businesses and consumers. The leadership's solution to this problem is to simply claim the bill defies the laws of economics.

According to the CBO, the climate legislation would cost the average household only $175 a year by 2020.

This bill poses many dangers to the U.S. Economy and needs to be stopped. Get on the phone with your Congressman and demand that they vote no on this bill to save American business and the wealth of the people.

Here is a statement from the President of the Campaign for Liberty John Tate:

You see, energy companies just pass the costs of these draconian regulations through to the consumer in the form of huge price increases.

As a result, you will pay higher gas prices, higher electric prices, and higher costs for goods.

Barack Obama has estimated the costs of this legislation to American taxpayers to be over 650 BILLION dollars over the next eight years, and that figure is no doubt just a fraction of the real cost.

But even that modest estimate amounts to hundreds of dollars a year in increased living expenses for every family -- and will more likely cost thousands a year.

And according to the Heritage Foundation, between 1.2 and 2.3 million jobs could be lost over the next ten-years due to the bill's stifling regulations.

This current economic crisis is no time for Congress to consider both raising prices on hard-working Americans AND costing them jobs.

That's why we must act now to send a message to Congress to reject this disastrous Cap-and-Tax Scheme....

Supporters of the legislation are of course trying to downplay the cost of this scheme to the American people.

But if the bill does not directly and massively increase energy costs to consumers, how would it possibly achieve its stated aims?

It is only through these massive cost increases -- mandated and enforced by the federal government -- that the dubious goal of reducing carbon emissions could possibly be reached....

Gov. Mark Sanford Admits to an Affair

Just when I thought there was a candidate that might be suitable for President, he goes out and cheats on his wife. And the politicians wonder why the people have no trust in them.

Governor Mark Sanford of South Carolina admitted today that he has been having a relationship with a women in Argentina, which is where he was the past 5 days when news reports started asking about his absence.

From the Wall Street Journal:

“I have been unfaithful to my wife, I have developed a relationship with what started as a dear, dear friend from Argentina… it began very innocently as I suspect these things do… just a casual email back and forth…” the governor says. He says this year it developed “into something more.”

It is hard to put trust in these elected officials. Once they start rising to power, they go off and screw up their careers, and lose the peoples trust. The ones that actually make a difference and hold true to principle get laughed off the stage for being less than the other contenders.

I actually took a liking to Mark Sanford because he started to resemble what true conservatism looked like. He was a protegee of Ron Paul, and by committing something as stupid as cheating on his wife, he effectively ruined his career.

I just pray for his wife who has to go through this, and hope that we can find somebody suitable enough to lead this country away from the socialistic darkness.

Obama Plants Question in Press Conference

Even more evidence of the Obama Administration trying to control the media out of the White House has been exposed. In plain sight this President had a question planted by the Huffington Post.

He called on the Huffington Post reporter and asked him if he had a question from somebody in Iran, and the reporter replied "well yes I do."

“Nico, I know you and all across the Internet, we've been seeing a lot of reports coming out of Iran,” Obama said, addressing Pitney. “I know there may actually be questions from people in Iran who are communicating through the Internet. Do you have a question?”

Pitney, as if ignoring what Obama had just said, said: “I wanted to use this opportunity to ask you a question directly from an Iranian.”

This is hard to believe, and I thought Bush was bad. This President is even worse, at least if Bush planted questions into press conferences, he keep it hidden.

They are now controlling the information that the American people receive everyday, but websites like this will put a stop to this onslaught.

It's Time to Audit the Fed

The bill to Audit the Fed is up to 242 Co-Sponsors in the House of Representatives and finally has a Co-Sponsor in the Senate.

Here is the interview with the Senate Co-Sponsor Jim DeMint:

It is time to audit these guys, and Glenn Beck is right, the Congress is losing power. As we continue to go down these paths, the peoples house is in jeopardy.

We are losing our Republic, and as Thomas Jefferson said one time "I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies."

Is Common Sense Alive in this Country?

I read Glenn Beck's "Common Sense" last week and found it to be a very good interpretation of the current state of affairs in this country. We our spending this country into oblivion, politicians are corrupt, and nobody in Washington has common sense. But do other people feel that way?

Glenn Beck sent Brian Sack out into the heart of New York City to find liberals and read them passages of his new book. He didn't tell them that Glenn had wrote the book, and they wanted to see if these liberals agreed with the passages:

Why do these people react that way when they are told that it was Fox News' Glenn Beck? Maybe what they have been feed all along about Glenn Beck has been wrong.

Why is Joe Biden Always at the President's Side?

It was a common occurrence in the Bush Administration for his critics to accuse him of being a puppet to Dick Cheney, the Vice President. They claimed that Cheney was the one pulling the strings and influenced the decisions President Bush made. While I don't dispute that these claims might have been true, my question is this, why is Joe Biden always at President Obama's side?

I have been following this since the first days of Obama's Administration and have waited until now to speak on the subject. With the mainstream media you don't hear the critics saying that Biden is the puppet master and Obama the puppet. But for some odd reason, whenever Obama is giving a important speech, or introducing a nominee for a Federal position, there is Ol' Joe standing to the side or behind the President.

Here is some photographic evidence for your viewing:

Obama has made a few gaffes, and the King of gaffes is Joe Biden. Could it be rubbing off on Obama since he appears to be Biden's puppet?

Dick Cheney never appeared along side President Bush like this, but Biden is always there. If you look at pictures of Bush and Cheney they are either in a cabinet meeting together, or it is just the two of them in private meetings. You never see Cheney there while Bush is nominating a Supreme Court pick, or introducing a new cabinet official.

This is just a trend that I have been noticing since Obama became President and I just wanted to throw it out there for debate. Am I the only one seeing this?

Ron Paul Taking Heat for No Vote on Iranian Resolution

The House of Representatives voted to condemn the Iranian government and its recent actions in the country with a 405-1 vote. The sole no vote came from Congressman Ron Paul, and already he is getting flack for his position, as critics argue that, as a proponent of liberty, he should have supported this resolution.

On the website Libertarian Republican, a guest columnist writes:

Well once again Congressman Ron Paul shows how much he just loves liberty, he just voted against a house resolution that would declare official support for anti-government protests in Iran!

*takes in air* Ahhhh yes, LIBERTY! Don’t you just love it? Now, to be more serious, how come every non-interventionist paleolibertarian like Paul is always willing to say and write things for freedom (well except this time of course), but they are so resistant to doing something for freedom?

First off, I would agree that we need to express our support of the anti-government protests in Iran, but I am one of those that stands by Ron Paul for his no vote. Ron Paul didn't vote no because he doesn't support freedom for the Iranian people. On the contrary, he voted no to express his disapproval of Congress voting on resolutions with no real legal weight, interfering with the internal affairs of another sovereign nation -- and doing so with limited information on the real situation, being hypocritical in its haphazard condemnation of only those regimes it finds inconvenient.

Here is his statement:

I rise in reluctant opposition to H Res 560, which condemns the Iranian government for its recent actions during the unrest in that country. While I never condone violence, much less the violence that governments are only too willing to mete out to their own citizens, I am always very cautious about "condemning" the actions of governments overseas. As an elected member of the United States House of Representatives, I have always questioned our constitutional authority to sit in judgment of the actions of foreign governments of which we are not representatives. I have always hesitated when my colleagues rush to pronounce final judgment on events thousands of miles away about which we know very little. And we know very little beyond limited press reports about what is happening in Iran.

Of course I do not support attempts by foreign governments to suppress the democratic aspirations of their people, but when is the last time we condemned Saudi Arabia or Egypt or the many other countries where unlike in Iran there is no opportunity to exercise any substantial vote on political leadership? It seems our criticism is selective and applied when there are political points to be made. I have admired President Obama's cautious approach to the situation in Iran and I would have preferred that we in the House had acted similarly.

I adhere to the foreign policy of our Founders, who advised that we not interfere in the internal affairs of countries overseas. I believe that is the best policy for the United States, for our national security and for our prosperity. I urge my colleagues to reject this and all similar meddling resolutions.

Congress bothers with this type of time-waster all the time -- I remember when they passed a resolution congratulating Ichiro Suzuki on the most hits in a season. These measures have no legal effect, and distract the legislature from issues that truly matter.

American citizens would perhaps do well to make very public and obvious their support for the Iranian protesters, especially if they are in positions of power (as congressmen are) where their voices will be heard. However, passing a resolution to that effect is none of the House's business.

Does Obama Wipe His Butt with the Constitution?

Ever since Barack Obama became President, the Constitution of the United States seems to be a little more smeared than before. He must be using it to wipe his butt harder than usual, and the news today proves no different.

It looks like he plans on stripping power from the states in order to reign in insurance companies:

June 19 (Bloomberg) -- President Barack Obama’s plan to create a U.S. insurance office after the $182.5 billion bailout of American International Group Inc. may take powers from the states that have overseen the industry for more than 135 years.

Obama called for the creation of a federal Office of National Insurance within the Treasury Department to monitor the industry, represent U.S. interests in international insurance agreements, and look for gaps in state oversight. The proposal was announced this week as part of Obama’s planned overhaul of the U.S. financial regulatory system.

If it wasn't enough that Obama takes rights from the people, he is now focusing on the states and taking the power from them. This is turning into a Fascist state, and nobody is stopping him. An all ruling national government that holds the power is Fascism!

This has got to stop, but nobody in Washington will stand up to the President. I couldn't care less if Obama was a Democrat or Republican, because I am neither. This is not American. He wipes his butt with the rule of law to promote his anti-American agenda. He could care less about the vision of the founding fathers, and wants to have total control over the government and the people that inhabit this land.

We need a R3VOLUTION of ideas fast! If not, we will fall fast into the arms of Fascism.

"Call Me Senator!"

The economy is in crisis, the dollar is collapsing, and China is starting to sell its holding of U.S. bonds. But to Senator Barbara Boxer there is another important matter to take care of:

Three things;
1. How big is your ego?
2. You are nothing more than a Senator, you are not above the people who put you there.
3. Finally, that Brigadier General deserves your respect, not the other way around.

ABC Refuses Opposition Ads During It's White House Broadcast

Two days ago we reported on ABC's White House special which will cover the topic of health care overhaul and will be ran by Obama Administration officials. This has been dubbed State Run News, since a network channel will be giving up control over the content and substance to political officials in the administration.

In an effort to combat this Communistic power grab by Obama, the group Conservatives for Patient Rights is seeking to run ads during this special broadcast in an attempt to give the viewers a different point of view regarding universal health care. Also, the RNC is wanting to have a representative participate and give their take on the issue, but ABC denied that request as well.

This story is breaking from the Drudge Report:

ABC is refusing to air paid ads during its White House health care presentation, the DRUDGE REPORT has learned, including a paid-for alternative viewpoint!

Can you say Communism??

It is hard to believe that in America where we strive on the God given rights of Freedom and Liberty a news network would bow down to a President and let him control the message coming across the air waves. This is propaganda to the extreme, and has never been done in this country.

It was argued by someone that commented on the post from a few days ago that FDR gave fireside chats over the radio and that is equivalent to what Obama is seeking. I would argue that it is not equivalent because the President still does this and it is called the weekly radio address. This ploy by Obama allows him to control the content of the nightly news that ABC would usually have control over. It will be broadcast from the White House and feature members of the administration controlling the message without any opposition to counter their claims.

Where has this country gone...

What is Causing this Economic Crisis?

Many politicians ask questions, but never seem to come up with their own thoughts. The questions they ask mean nothing because their actions don't add up to their rhetoric.

The biggest question today is, "what is causing this economic crisis?" Many smart people have answers, but their reasoning is flawed. The main root of this crisis we face is the Federal Reserve system. They deal in secret terms and auction off the United States economy like livestock. They are not required to tell us who they deal with, and where they send money.

The politicians in Washington kowtow to the Fed because they are taught that bright people are in charge of monetary policy in this country. However, if they were to do a little thinking of their own, and stop listening to the leadership in Congress, they would see that the Federal Reserve has been the root of all problems in this country since its inception in 1913.

Ron Paul is really the only one in Congress at the moment that understands this reasoning and this video helps explain that giving the Fed to much power will damage the United States economy, and take us further down a path that will put us in a bad place for years to come:

Federal Reserve to Gain More Power

While the movement to Audit the Fed had grown by leaps and bounds, there is still more work to be done. Until we can get H.R. 1207 passed in the House and Senate the Federal Reserve will continue to expand their power over the American people.

From the Washington Times:

The Federal Reserve, already arguably the most powerful agency in the U.S. government, will get sweeping new authority to regulate any company whose failure could endanger the U.S. economy and markets under the Obama administration's regulatory overhaul plan.

The final plan due to be released on Wednesday -- which originally aimed to streamline and consolidate banking and securities regulation in one or two agencies -- now is expected to sidestep most jurisdictional disputes and simply impose across the board standards to be applied by all financial regulators, according to administration and industry sources.

They are going to have the right to walk in to a private sector company and take them over. This is not free markets, this is nationalization of the private sector.

How is a business to operate while fearing the Feds coming in and dictating how they conduct business. Our government is growing so big that we will soon collapse into the dark cloud of Communism.

Pressure you representatives to demand our Freedom's and Liberties. Support H.R. 1207!

Why Ron Paul is a True Conservative

The Republican Party is looking for a leader at the moment to combat the Obama Administration, but the trouble they are finding is the people they have leading it caused the problems we face now.

These so called "conservatives" hide behind this label, because we make liberal out to be a bad thing. They hide because they are truly statists that believe the government does have a role in how the economy functions, or they advocate a foreign policy of aggression.

This video I have put below is from the 2008 Republican Debate at the Reagan Library. Listen to Ron Paul and what he is saying. This guy represents what true conservatism really means:

State Run News Has Arrived

About a month ago I warned of the possibility of state run news coming out of the White House. It now appears that was just the tip of the ice berg.

From the Drudge Report:

On the night of June 24, the media and government become one, when ABC turns its programming over to President Obama and White House officials to push government run health care -- a move that has ignited an ethical firestorm!

Highlights on the agenda:

ABCNEWS anchor Charlie Gibson will deliver WORLD NEWS from the Blue Room of the White House.

The network plans a primetime special -- 'Prescription for America' -- originating from the East Room, exclude opposing voices on the debate.

There is nothing to say on this story....expect R3VOLUTION!!

Ron Paul On Reforming Health Care

Health care reform is coming front and center this year, so why should we oppose socialized medicine?

Congressman Ron Paul, as always, gives a great argument for opposing socialized medicine...he is a Doctor by trade:

Don't Believe We Will Experience Inflation? Think Again

We talk about the influx of money that the Federal Reserve has introduced into the economy, which will cause inflation, but it is hard to explain in words.

So, for you visual people, here is the annual percentage change in the monetary base since 1961 through today:

With this and a budget deficit 13% of the GDP, we will see the dramatic rise in inflation.

Ron Paul on Tobacco Regulations

The federal government wants to regulate the hell out of tobacco...a way for them to strip even more individual liberty for the sake of getting elected.

Here is Ron Paul explaining why these regulations are a bad thing for the people and our Constitutional Republic:

Government Intrusion into Neighborhoods

When the people fear the government, there is tyranny. When the government fears the people, there is liberty.--Thomas Jefferson

That quote from Thomas Jefferson has a lot of meaning and goes a long way in explaining the actions of government. We lose our Liberties almost everyday because of the actions of government, and it is happening once again in the city of Denver.

After the Democratic National Convention in 2008 the city of Denver was left with 50 cameras in the downtown area. So, instead of selling the cameras, or just getting rid of them, they will now deploy them into neighborhoods to keep an eye on the people.

From 7 News in Denver:

DENVER -- Inside the Denver Police Department, the HALO Command Control Center records video 24-7 from almost 70 cameras across the city.

The program is called High Activity Observation, or HALO, and it has been in place for more than three years.

But last year, for the Democratic National Convention, police received $1 million in federal funds to buy an additional 50 cameras, mostly stationed in downtown Denver.

But police said the locations will change in the coming months as part of a new phase in the HALO program.

“We’re actually going to roll out and have our actual goal of putting these cameras in other high-crime areas and areas of concern,” said Lt. Ernest Martinez, the coordinator of the HALO program.

Now a lot of people would argue that this is a good thing...they are putting up these cameras to fight crime, but that is not necessarily the case. It can be used to fight crime, but it violates the privacy of ordinary citizens that call these places home, and they will probably go up in high population black and Hispanic neighborhoods in Denver.

That quote from Thomas Jefferson means something...cameras are fear tools that make people worried for what they do and how they live their lives. It strips them of all liberty for the sake of busting down on drug use like pot.

H.R. 1207 up to 222 Co-Sponsors

H.R. 1207, the bill to audit the Fed, has reached 218 Co-Sponsor (a majority of the house) and has gone up to 222.

From the United States House of Representatives:

Washington, D.C. - Congressman Ron Paul's Federal Reserve Transparency Act, HR 1207, has reached and surpassed the level of 218 cosponsors in the House of Representatives, which means it is now cosponsored by a majority of the members.

The 218th cosponsor was Dennis Kucinich (OH-10), and the bill has since received its 222nd cosponsor.

“The tremendous grass-roots and bipartisan support in Congress for HR 1207 is an indicator of how mainstream America is fed up with Fed secrecy,” said Congressman Paul. “I look forward to this issue receiving greater public exposure.”

Hearings on Federal Reserve transparency are expected within the next month, as part of the Financial Services Committee's series of hearings on regulatory reform.

It is now time to encourage swift movement through the committee, and passage in the House. Then we can move our efforts over to the Senate and make an impact on the stealthy way the Federal Reserve operates.

Barney Frank Walks Off Live CNBC Interview on Executive Pay

Today the Obama Administration announced it's plan to bypass the free market and reign in private sector pay. In most cases we would call this communism, and it is not different from the fact.

WASHINGTON (AP) -- The Obama administration is taking a half-step toward taming U.S. executive pay. Some lawmakers prefer a fuller stride.

Democrats on the House Financial Services Committee said Thursday the administration's efforts to hector the private sector into reining in executive pay might not go far enough.

Then Barney Frank walked off the set of CNBC while being grilled about this very subject:

This is a huge government ploy to exert their power over the people and the free market. They are turning this country into a communist state, and saying that all they are doing is regulating corrupt CEO's. There will always be corruption, but reverting to communism is not the answer. The shareholders of these companies will make a change if it is necessary.

Not the United States Government.

Fed Would Be Shut Down If Audited

Everyone that reads this website should know about H.R. 1207, Ron Paul's bill to audit the Federal Reserve, since we talk about it non stop. It looks like the Fed is getting scared about the bill since it is up to over 200 Co-sponsors.

CNBC spoke with Jim Grant, who edits Grant’s Interest Rate Observer:

With $45 billion in capital and $2.1 trillion in assets, the central bank would not withstand the scrutiny normally afforded other institutions, Grant said in a live interview.

“If the Fed examiners were set upon the Fed’s own documents—unlabeled documents—to pass judgment on the Fed’s capacity to survive the difficulties it faces in credit, it would shut this institution down,” he said. “The Fed is undercapitalized in a way that Citicorp is undercapitalized.”

Grant said he would support legislation currently making its way through Congress calling for an audit of the Fed.

This might not be a bad thing if one thinks about it...the Fed has been causing economic destruction since its inception in 1913. They operate in secrecy, and have the ability to print money without the approval of Congress, because they have been given unlimited control over monetary policy.

This audit would provide a look into the dealings of the Fed, and when they hire lobbyists, and run around saying this wouldn't be a good thing, it is easy to see that H.R. 1207 is necessary.

Conservative Revolution in England

As we fight for our rights here in this country, they are fighting the same fight across the pond. A lonely MEP by the name of Daniel Hannan has become the Ron Paul of England with his outspoken criticism of the ruling party in Great Britain. He articulates clearly like Congressman Paul on the need to fix the financial situation, and the root causes of the problem.

Here is a video of a speech that Mr. Hanna gave in the European Parliament attacking Prime Minister Gordon Brown:

Sounds refreshing...maybe Ron Paul and Mr. Hannan can give the Republicans in this country a little lesson on how to stand up for their principles and not cow tow to the ruling party.

And for enjoyment, here is another video of Mr. Hannan from the other day asking the Prime Minister how much more clearly do they have to speak?:

R3VOLUTION!

China Fears US Debt and Dollar

Because of our reckless ways on spending and accruing debt, the Chinese, one of the biggest holders of our debt, are expressing fear for the debt and the decline of the U.S. Dollar.

A Republican Congressman Mark Kirk, who is back from visiting with Chinese officials, had this to say:

"We heard across the board -- in private -- substantial, continuing and rising concern," Representative Mark Kirk said after a trip to China that included talks with government officials and central bank chief Zhou Xiaochuan.

"It's clear that China would like to diversify from its dollar investments," the lawmaker said at the Center for Strategic and International Studies, a Washington think-tank.

This is a bad situation because if China dumps the Dollar, we are toast financially, and the United States could fall into bankruptcy or delinquency.

It is imperative that we rid ourselves of this debt and get out of the business of letting foreign investors have such control over our economy. But guess what...this will never happen with the current leaders in Washington, and the only one that really voices this concern day in and day out is Ron Paul.

It is time for a Revolution, and it needs to happen pretty quick, or we are in deep shit!

Russians Declare American Capitalism Dead and Has Descended into Marxism

Since the liberals in this country constantly care about the way other countries view us, they might find this story interesting, since they are the ones that caused other countries to say such things.

The Russians have declared American Capitalism dead, and we are moving toward Marxism at a rapid pace. Take a look:

It must be said, that like the breaking of a great dam, the American decent into Marxism is happening with breath taking speed, against the back drop of a passive, hapless sheeple, excuse me dear reader, I meant people.

True, the situation has been well prepared on and off for the past century, especially the past twenty years. The initial testing grounds was conducted upon our Holy Russia and a bloody test it was. But we Russians would not just roll over and give up our freedoms and our souls, no matter how much money Wall Street poured into the fists of the Marxists.

Those lessons were taken and used to properly prepare the American populace for the surrender of their freedoms and souls, to the whims of their elites and betters.

While they are not really free in Russia, it is sad to say that this analysis is true. We are heading towards Marxism at a fast pace, and with people like President Obama in charge, we will keep heading that way.

People need to wake up. Our Freedoms and Liberty are the God given rights we cherish everyday, and they are being taken away from our hands for bigger government control.

Obama is Destroying the Economy

While I am not the biggest fan of Rush Limbaugh, I can get behind this monologue on the Obama Administration destroying the United States Economy.

We need to create real capital and wealth, not jobs, and Rush understands this premise:

The Motor Home Diaries: searching for freedom in america

I would like to introduce to everyone, if you haven't already discovered them, a group of individuals that have made it a point to travel across the country in a motor home to search for Freedom and Liberty in a time where we are losing it every day of the week.

These guys run the Motor Home Diaries and they travel across the United States in a motor home seeking people that love Freedom and pursue it everyday of their life. They realized after spending time working in D.C. with Libertarian think tanks that they should take their love of Liberty to the heart of America and see what people really think of their Freedoms.

To get an idea about what they do, here are a couple of videos from their website.

The first one is an interview with Amanda Teresi from the Independence Institute in Colorado, and creator of Liberty on the Rocks:

This second video is an interview they conducted with Congressman Ron Paul:

Just recently they were arrested by law enforcement out of Jones County, MS for no legitimate reason and had their rights stomped all over. To read more about their encounter with the law click here.

I encourage everyone to check them out, because the more we can spread this message, the better life will be for all of us.

The Death of Small Business and Liberty

Let me tell you a little story...it involves a United States Senator and his attempt to destroy small businesses in this country. He feels it is his obligation to require every employer to provide health insurance for their employees, and that everyone in this country purchase health insurance. In his reckless attempt to destroy the economy, and the Liberty of Free people, he will undermine the Capitalistic system, and replace it with a Socialistic Utopian.

I know...this story is scary! But guess what? It is very much true, and that United States Senator is Ted Kennedy:

WASHINGTON (AP) - Employers would be required to offer health care to employees or pay a penalty - and all Americans would be guaranteed health insurance - under a draft bill circulated Friday by Sen. Edward M. Kennedy's health committee.

The bill would provide subsidies to help poor people pay for care, guarantee patients the right to select any doctor they want and require everyone to purchase insurance, with exceptions for those who can't afford to.

It is hard to believe in a country that was founded on Freedom and Liberty that one day, the United States Congress, would try to mandate that employers be required to offer health care, and that everyone would be expected to purchase insurance.

Where is the choice? Where is the Freedom? It looks like it was checked at the door in exchange for tyranny.

Over my dead body will a government tell me that I must purchase health coverage. Where is my country?

"The Today" Show Mocks Obama's Use Of Teleprompter

We all know of Obama's reliance on the teleprompter to talk to the American people, but when his most staunchest ally NBC makes fun of his use of the teleprompter it says something.

However, I am trying to figure out if NBC is criticizing his use of the teleprompter, or trying to say that it is not a big deal.

You tell me...

Federal Reserve Hires a Lobbyist for Public Image

In the wake of Ron Paul's bill H.R. 1207, Audit the Fed, the Federal Reserve has apparently hired a lobbyist to beef up its public image.

From Bloomberg:

June 5 (Bloomberg) -- The Federal Reserve intends to hire a veteran lobbyist as it seeks to counter skepticism in Congress about the central bank’s growing power over the U.S. financial system, people familiar with the matter said.

It looks like the Fed is getting a little worried about the attention Ron Paul's bill is getting with over 180 Co-Sponsors in the House and a companion bill introduced in the Senate.

What makes the story even interesting is the lobbyist they hired, and who she use to lobby for:

Linda Robertson currently handles government, community and public affairs at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, and headed the Washington lobbying office of Enron Corp., the energy trading company that collapsed in 2002 after an accounting scandal. She was also an adviser to all three of the Clinton administration’s Treasury secretaries.

While the Fed runs scared of being exposed for what they really do, we will keep up our efforts to get H.R. 1207 passed, and have the Federal Reserve answer for the destruction they have caused to this country.

A Stealthy Way for Obama to Control the Media?

Is there a way for President Obama to control radio and television? It could seem there is a stealthy way for him to accomplish this feat.

The analysis comes from somebody that a lot of my readers don't care for, but it is still a valid argument.

Here is Rush Limbaugh explaining how this take over of media might take place under Obama:

Government Run Healthcare a Great Idea? Think Again!

The rhetoric concerning universal healthcare is heating up in this country, but is it a good idea?

ABC's John Stossel shows us why it might not be as sweet as people think:

Economy Still Tanking So Obama to Speed up the Stimulus

The country was told earlier this year that the Economic Stimulus package was essential to curb job losses and provide stability to the fragile economy.

Well, it is May and the jobless rate has hit 9.4%, the Dollar is tanking, the housing market is still struggling, and the Federal Reserve is still operating in secret while screwing the country with it's pants on. And Obama's solution to this problem...spend the stimulus faster:

"Less bad" is not good enough, Vice President Joe Biden said Friday, announcing that the Obama administration will introduce plans to speed up disbursements from the economic stimulus package to try to curb continuing job losses.

The Labor Department announced Friday that 345,000 jobs were lost last month, and May's unemployment rate reached 9.4 percent, up from 8.1 percent in February when Democrats in Congress ushered through President Obama's $787 billion stimulus plan.

The administration at the time claimed that without it, the job rate would hit 8.8 percent in 2010

It puzzles me to sit here and figure out what goes through their head when they speak. Either their incompetence is out of the ballpark, or they are out to destroy the country. Any way one looks at it...its not good for the country.

These leaders in Washington passed one of the largest stimulus packages since the Great Depression, and when it is not working, they say do it faster. I hate to tell them...IT'S NOT WORKING!

An economy is not measured on the amount of people it has working, but rather the power of it's currency, the growth of GDP, etc. Unemployment is nothing but a mere statistic in a situation that is bigger. Look at the Great Depression...FDR brought unemployment down during the 30's, but the economy was still in the tank. Employing people doesn't fix the problem, but non-free market politicians think otherwise.

That is how they get votes...they get people jobs.

Ron Paul: Congress Doesn't Care About Cause Of Crisis

Does Congress even care about the cause of this economic crisis, or are they focused on fixing it for their own political gain (i.e. spending like drunken sailors)?

As always, Congressman Ron Paul has some brilliant insight into this question:

My question to Congress is this...do you even listen to this guy? Because if you listened for just 2 minutes you would be able to find the solutions to the problems. Just a suggestion...

Colorado State Senator Suggests To Believe In Spending Limits... Is To Believe In a "Flat Earth"

It is not often that I comment on stories coming out of my own state, but when my State Senator suggests that to believe in spending limits is to believe in a "flat earth" I must draw attention to this ridiculous accusation.

In the state of Colorado, we have experienced some budget constraints due to the struggling economy, and the Democratic leadership has hacked away at the fiscal restraints currently in place. Colorado Gov. Bill Ritter signed a bill Wednesday eliminating an 18-year-old limit on general-fund spending. This provision will allow general-fund spending to increase just 6 percent per year and replaces it with a spending increase limit equal to 5 percent of personal income growth.

Then comes the idiotic statement from State Senator John Morse of Colorado Springs,

"In the late 1400s, very few people believed the Earth was round. By the early 1500s, we knew what was going on," Morse said of the need to convince Coloradans that such change is necessary. "The same thing's going to happen with this bill ... This is a fight for the soul of Colorado and it's just beginning."

So, to suggest that by living within our means, and only spending money that we have, is equivalent to stating that the world is flat?

At least the nation will know of the idiots running Colorado after this story.

NBCNEWS Anchor Bows Before the President?

Did Brian Williams really bow to the President, or was it just a kind gesture...you be the judge.

10 seconds into the clip:

Governor Sanford Might Have to Accept Stimulus Money

Governor Mark Sanford of South Carolina made a name for himself this year by refusing the Federal stimulus money handed out by the Obama Administration. By standing on principle he won the hearts of true conservatives across the country, including myself. However, the Governor might be forced to take the money by the courts in his state.

The Wall Street Journal reports:

COLUMBIA, S.C. -- South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford, who defied his own state to reject federal stimulus funding for his struggling government, lost a pivotal decision in federal court and said he now expects to be ordered to request the money.

A federal judge on Monday returned to the state Supreme Court two lawsuits demanding that the governor accept roughly $700 million in federal aid. The state's high court is scheduled to take up the lawsuits on Wednesday.

Sanford analyzed the situation as follows:

The Republican governor suggested the state court likely will bow to the wishes of state lawmakers, who have ordered him to take the money. "Here we have a Supreme Court picked by the General Assembly," the governor said. "It looks like we will be bound to spend that money." He said he would abide by the court's ruling.

This puts Governor Sanford in a precarious situation, and I might suggest one thing to him: defy the court’s ruling if it is against him. Though this decision would make a dramatic and attention-grabbing statement for fiscal conservatism which could well propel Sanford on his way to the presidency should he choose that route, however, it has the potential downside of creating a further trend of presidents who do not follow the rule of law to advance their own agenda, however admirable (or not).

Peter Schiff Recommends Libertarians Infiltrate The Republican Party

Peter Schiff, well known for his predictions of the economic collapse, is now recommending Libertarians infiltrate the Republican Party before it is too late.

Here is a video of his speech to the Libertarian Party of Connecticut:

I couldn't agree more with Peter's assessment, and argue that Libertarianism is what the founding fathers believed. We need to get back to the principles that founded this country; Freedom and Liberty.

This is why I joined the Campaign for Liberty and suggest you do so as well.

Senate Bill Watered Down by Neoconservatives

A Senate bill comparable to Ron Paul’s H.R. 1207, the bill to audit the Federal Reserve system, is in the process of being watered down by neoconservatives. Like H.R. 1207, this bill would provide transparency in to the dealings of the Federal Reserve and open them up to the public for the first time since the Fed was created in 1913.

Austin Petersen from the Libertarian Party is the one that has exposed this revelation, and here is a portion of his article explaining what is happening:

HR 1207, the bill to Audit the Fed, now has 179 co-sponsors. Currently the leadership of the two parties has not addressed this legislation until recently. A Senate audit bill that is unrelated to HR 1207 titled “HC-45” was introduced to audit the Fed and was promptly amended to limit the scope. It appears now that a so-called limited government Republican by the name of Richard Shelby did the watering down of the bill. Apparently he has written into the margins of the bill in pencil “with respect to a single and specific partnership or corporation.” That means that the scope of the GAO’s audit has been severely limited. This modified version of the amendment does not give GAO authority to look at all of the additional taxpayer risk. Why the secrecy congressmen? Senator Charles Grassley conceded to the amendments, and has therefore shown his stripes as willing to compromise the financial security of the United States citizenry for his own political gain.

Voters would do well to remember Senator Grassley and Shelby as people who do not support oversight or transparency into the monetary system of the United States. These Senators have abdicated their responsibility to the people and should immediately step down
.

The Senate bill number is actually S.896, but Petersen is correct that it cancels out a big provision of auditing the Fed.

It is vital that this legislation go through Congress as written. It is time we start opening up the dealings of government agencies in an effort to expose abuse and negligence. Call these two Senators – Shelby and Charles Grassley – and demand that they remove this amendment from the bill and represent the taxpayers of this country. Call your own Senators as well!

Keith Olberman Blames Fox News for Death of Abortion Doctor

While the death of Kansas abortion doctor George Tiller was tragic , Keith Olberman went well beyond the realm of stupidity and blamed Fox News and Bill O'Reilly for being complicit in his murder.

He believes that the words of O'Reilly and Fox caused this maniac to go off and kill the doctor. This is the same argument of "guns kill people" now it is just "words kill people." Words don't kill people Mr. Olberman, people kill people, and this psycho chose to do this himself.

U.S. Can't Impose Its Values on the World

It’s not often that I have agreed with President Obama, but it seems that he made a smart statement that I can get behind…but the only problem is his actions speak louder than his words.

In an interview with the BBC the President said the United States cannot impose its values on other countries, but argued that principles such as democracy and the rule of law were universal. I couldn’t agree with this statement more, but the fact is his actions, since taking hold of the Presidency, have been nothing like this statement.

President Obama has continued the policies of the Bush Administration and has failed to change our image across the world: We continue to cause problems in places like Iraq and Afghanistan and to threaten Pakistan. With North Korea, Obama will have the chance once again to demonstrate whether he actually believes what he says.

The United States need to return to noninterventionism, and stop sticking our noses in the affairs of other countries. Ever since WWI, this country has played the world’s policeman, and we have further endangered ourselves. Ron Paul was right when he said that the reason for terrorist hatred against the United States was our presence in those countries. We stuck our noses right in their face, and it pissed them off.

We hold this belief that we must impose our values on other countries, but it hasn’t worked. We continue to cause havoc, but when we elect somebody that says he will change the situation and doesn’t, we pull ourselves further down a terrible path.

The United States Suffers From a Fiscal Cancer

I.O.U.S.A is a movie made in conjunction with the Peter G. Peterson Foundation, lead by former Comptroller General of the United States David Walker. He served as the nations top accountant for the better part of the decade and says the greatest threat to our country is not radical Islam, but fiscal irresponsibility and over spending by the federal government.

As David Walker says, "we suffer from a fiscal cancer." We have ignored basic principles of common sense, and have driven this country to the edge of a cliff. The inability of our elected officials to see past this screen they have put up is damaging our country more and more everyday. We owe to much money for promises we can't afford.

This issue is not a left or right, but rather a moral one. Thomas Jefferson use to say that it was immoral to leave debt to future generations, and he couldn't be more right. We do this all the time to satisfy current happenings. We create programs that make everyone feel good right now, but then we leave the cost to our children and grandchildren.

I have posted this video a few time now, but I wanted to give new readers of this blog a chance to see it and share their thoughts.

Watch this 30 minute version of I.O.U.S.A. to gain a better understanding of the state of our fiscal situation:

I also highly recommend you purchase the full version of this movie, which I did recently. It is a must see, and should be shared with as many people you can get your hands on. Go here to purchase (I don't get any money for recommending this movie)
