The Rise of Despotism in America

After reading an article like this, it makes me weep for my country and the rule of our Constitution:

After laying the groundwork for a decisive vote this week on the Senate's health-care bill, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi suggested Monday that she might attempt to pass the measure without having members vote on it.

Instead, Pelosi (D-Calif.) would rely on a procedural sleight of hand: The House would vote on a more popular package of fixes to the Senate bill; under the House rule for that vote, passage would signify that lawmakers "deem" the health-care bill to be passed.

The tactic -- known as a "self-executing rule" or a "deem and pass" -- has been commonly used, although never to pass legislation as momentous as the $875 billion health-care bill. It is one of three options that Pelosi said she is considering for a late-week House vote, but she added that she prefers it because it would politically protect lawmakers who are reluctant to publicly support the measure.

It is beyond my comprehension that something as preposterous as this tactic is being considered for something as big as the health care debate.

This is now the rise of despotism in America. We have moved way beyond the idea of electing representatives to vote on our behalf, and into a world of totalitarian government.

When does this end....and when is the R3VOLTUION!

"When a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security."

  1. It will probably end with all of us getting tattoos on our arms (or GPS chips...), and those who don't like it will be ostracized by society or placed into special places for those who 'just can't get along' (concentration camps).

If history is ANY teacher at all, they will continue to run with their agenda now, urged on by the people who support them, until they turn on even those people and complete the cycle, much to the supporters' surprise. All because we got spoiled and wanted 'freebies', walked right into the trap!

  2. I am ready to participate in the effort to take back our country by what ever means necessary. The insanity and massive expansion of the Federal government must stop!!!!!

  3. The success of socialism in American can be directly attributed to the increase in government entitlements. I have said for years that when 51% of the population are dependent on (or benefiting from) government entitlement programs, the move to socialism will be assured. We are hovering around the 50% mark using the last 20+ years of election results as an indicator. The pending health care legislation will increase the number receiving government entitlements by around 30 million as this is the number of individuals (almost used citizens) currently in need of health insurance. Passing the Health Care legislation will insure the move to socialize America (and the Progressives know it). That is why it is so important!!!!!!!!!!
