In July, Congressman Paul discussed the business cycle and government contributions to America's economic turmoil at a Joint Economic Committee hearing.

Mandatory DUI Checkpoint Blood Tests Coming to Florida
When we crazy Libertarians talk about the government trying to rule your life and control every single aspect of it and violate your constitutional rights, these are the types of stories that give us credit.
The state of Florida is now holding mandatory DUI checkpoint blood tests for its citizens while they are out driving.
Here is the video describing this new found power for the Florida government:
We are suppose to be protected under the United States Constitution, but it seems that governments around the country and including our Federal government have no care for our rights as free citizens and by taking our blood they are violating that right to the highest power.
This is something that needs to be protested and if I were living in Florida I would refuse and let them take me to jail and get the best lawyer I could find and sue in state court calling for their political heads.
Stand up to governmental abuse of your rights...fight for what is truly yours...freedom!

The Attack on the Internet
We knew it was coming, and now it is here...the censorship of the Internet is on its way and it has the backing of the Federal government and government's from around the world.
From the Wall Street Journal:
Let me explain why this bugs me to no end....
First, this is the start of global government under the guise of the New World Order. Government's around the world are trying to take over the will of the people on this planet, and in this century the internet is the way to do exactly just that.
Secondly, I am sick and tired of some "higher power" like the government telling me how to live my life, and what our children should be watching. I was under the impression that we live in a free country and we have fought a lot of wars to ensure the maximum amount of liberty for the people.
What gives some government the right to tell me what I should and should not be looking at on my own free time? The internet is the ultimate form of freedom in our country, because it gives us the ability to speak out against this strong arm government that is trying to censor the internet.
It is time for the people to stand up to this nonsense and fight for the freedom's that were guaranteed to us by our founding fathers.
R3VOLUTION!!
From the Wall Street Journal:
Tomorrow morning the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) will mark the winter solstice by taking an unprecedented step to expand government's reach into the Internet by attempting to regulate its inner workings. In doing so, the agency will circumvent Congress and disregard a recent court ruling.
How did the FCC get here?
For years, proponents of so-called "net neutrality" have been calling for strong regulation of broadband "on-ramps" to the Internet, like those provided by your local cable or phone companies. Rules are needed, the argument goes, to ensure that the Internet remains open and free, and to discourage broadband providers from thwarting consumer demand. That sounds good if you say it fast.
Let me explain why this bugs me to no end....

Should We Start the Count-Down Clock on the Fall of the West?
By Roger F. Gay
Lest we forget, the modern world was created and is maintained by science and technology; so much so and so successfully that many people have often been able to take it for granted. A few hundred years ago, you would have been thinking about what it takes to keep your wagon rolling, if you had one. (Many people still do.) If a wheel broke you would have had to fix it if you could. You would have directly understood the consequences if you couldn't.
In recent times, the public has been awakened, at least to some extent, by regional problems related to political manipulation of the energy market. Too much tampering can cause great cities and industries to fall. An entire nation isn't much more than the next domino. Fine if you happen to be George Soros, who will make a huge amount of money and become even more powerful. But conspirators may find that their short-term profits won't buy them much and they risk being the first against the wall when the revolution comes.
University of Pennsylvania scientist J. Scott Armstrong wrote a letter to the Wall Street Journal in response to Can Anything Serious Happen in Cancun?. The article by Copenhagen business professor Bjørn Lomborg “claims that government spending on global warming policies is wasted, but he assumes that global warming caused by carbon dioxide is a fact.”
“It is not,” says Armstrong, who then bolstered the understanding that alarmist “science” is totally unscientific.
Unscientific “science” driving a political agenda is nothing new and this is not a new revelation to long-time readers of MND. In Are Americans Paying Taxes to Organized Crime Syndicates?, I named the “public-private partnership” scam as an outgrowth of the practice. The arrangement allows the creation of front companies that need not provide any useful goods or services but nonetheless experience large profits from government contracts. It's a significant element in the corrupt political “money machine” that has caused out-of-control government spending and the break-down of Constitutional order. If left unabated, we should start the countdown clock on civil and most likely global war.
Such scams are astoundingly easy to set-up. One doesn't even need to be picky about the subject of the unscientific “science.” (The money is always just as green.) It's important to understand the limits of scientific knowledge. Pick a difficult area and stake a “theory”-based claim out in the unknown where real knowledge and data haven't yet reached. Don't forget to create one that implies Big Government take-overs and lots of sending. Define in advance the likely winners and losers. Political organizations with a related agenda can then be instrumental in building false public confidence in the “theory” and in demonizing the losers – who will of course complain. Legitimate scientists will be forced to admit that they know less about the subject than you (falsely) claim to know and advocates (who expect to gain financially) will be more than happy to commit libel against any who protest too much about your unscientific “science.” Politicians can then start talking about “doing something” in response to your non-existent or highly distorted “problem.” They in turn will see to it that the politically controlled media are on board. Congratulations! You're now just months away from the first billion in public funding. It's time to start planning the strategic take-over of scientific communications; placing your people as editors in “peer” reviewed journals, conference organizers, and directors of institutions and government science programs.
As before, it has taken quite a long time for real science to respond with more than criticism. It's not just the need for real scientific work, which politically controlled funding agencies are unlikely to fund, and few wander in when they see that their personal reputations, and perhaps even their jobs are at stake. Then there's the whole problem of figuring out how to do legitimate science outside the limits of current science, and by the time real scientists have something to present, they find that communication of their ideas are blocked by well-funded corrupt conspirators.
We might actually be thankful for the global warming scam to the extent that it was big enough to expose the procedure. Back before the age of weak-minded relatives of former politicians (like Al Gore and Hillary Clinton), corrupt politicians seemed to have more sense. When Ronald Reagan and Newt Gingrich were in charge, for example, a good scam involved only a billion dollars or so a year, none of the “bad guys” in their propaganda had legitimate Nobel prizes for science, and the U.N. role in taking it global was small enough to stay off the public radar. Most people still wouldn't recognize Reagan and Gingrich as New World Order protagonists. The Republican Party role only started to become obvious when Bush I couldn't stop saying “New World Order,” and at least for a short while it seemed like he might have meant something else.
.

“It is not,” says Armstrong, who then bolstered the understanding that alarmist “science” is totally unscientific.
We published a peer-reviewed paper showing that the forecasting procedures used by the U.N.'s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change violated 72 of 89 relevant [scientific] principles (e.g., "provide full disclosure of methods"). The IPCC has been unable to explain why it violated such principles. In response, we developed a model that follows the principles.Armstrong is part of a group that has created a more realistic climate model. Its simplicity corresponds to the fact that climate is complex and at present poorly understood. Keeping the model realistic in relation to what is known leads to much better statistical results. “In testing the models on global temperature data since 1850, we found that the long-range (91-to-100-years ahead) forecast errors from the IPCC's projection were 12 times larger than the errors from our simple model.“

California opts to destroy its economy - again!
And they wonder why the California economy and state budget tends to fail, aside from experiencing energy outages. Let's cut federal funding to California. This is just way too much corruption.
The cap-and-trade system will limit emissions from 600 major industrial plants in the state, starting in 2012. Firms could buy pollution offsets from timber companies that preserve carbon in forests.
California regulators Thursday voted to cap the greenhouse gas emissions of the state's major industries and establish the nation's first broad-based carbon trading program.
The move marks another bellwether moment for a state that has led in environmental policy, coming as national climate legislation to regulate greenhouse gases and curb climate change has stalled in Congress.
"This is an historic venture," said Mary Nichols, chairwoman of the California Air Resources Board, as the panel voted 9 to 1 to approve some 3,000 pages of regulations and supporting documents, crafted over three years of intense negotiations with businesses and public interest groups.

Environmental Protection Agency regulations could make it difficult for Americans to stay warm this winter
From Yahoo News
With reports predicting brutally-cold weather to envelop much of the U.S. in the coming weeks, Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) regulations could make it harder for Americans to stay warm. According to the National Center for Public Policy, the EPA’s regulatory war on greenhouse gas emissions will drastically increase costs for the majority of Americans who get their heat generated from coal.
According to a press release from the National Center for Public Policy, the Congressional Research Service this year has already predicted that the average American household will spend $986 just for heat this winter. As far south as Atlanta, Georgia, hundreds have already waited in line for government assistance programs to help pay their energy bills.
“With millions of Americans unemployed and struggling to keep their homes warm, the need for government assistance will only increase,” said Deneen Borelli of the National Center for Public Policy’s Project21. “Heavy demand and higher prices due to the Obama Administration’s assault on the fossil fuels we rely upon are going to stretch charities to their limits and beyond,” she said in a press release.
Borelli went on to say that “By having the EPA regulate carbon emissions, [EPA Administrator] Lisa Jackson is laying the foundation for the 2010 version of bread lines by supporting efforts that will raise energy costs.”

The Sad State of Cyber-Politics
Adam Thierer, Cato Policy Report, November/Decembter 2010
I don't know if it would make him smile or grimace, but someone should give T. J. Rodgers a prize for his predictive powers. Back in 2000, Rodgers, the president and CEO of Cypress Semiconductor, penned a prescient manifesto for the Cato Institute with a provocative title: "Why Silicon Valley Should Not Normalize Relations with Washington, D.C."
"The political scene in Washington is antithetical to the core values that drive our success in the international marketplace and risks converting entrepreneurs into statist businessmen," he warned. "The collectivist notion that drives policymaking in Washington is the irrevocable enemy of high-technology capitalism and the wealth creation process."
Alas, no one listened. Indeed, Rodgers's dystopian vision of a highly politicized digital future has taken just a decade to become reality. The high-tech policy scene within the Beltway has become a cesspool of backstabbing politics, hypocritical policy positions, shameful PR tactics, and bloated lobbying budgets.
Perhaps we shouldn't find it surprising that so many players in the tech policy arena now look to throw each other under the Big Government bus to gain marketplace advantages.
After all, that's the story of many other industries that got under the covers with Washington. But the sheer rapidity with which this sorry state of affairs has unfolded in the tech policy world is shocking, even to the most jaded among us.

Judge Calls Health Law Unconstitutional
The health care law passed by Congress months back and signed by President Obama would have required every citizen to have some type of health care coverage or else be fined a substantial amount of money.
However, today a federal judge has ruled the health care law unconstitutional based on this requirement to have health insurance.
From the Wall Street Journal:
There is no doubt that this ruling by the federal judge will be appealed by the Obama team and taken to the appellate court and eventually the Supreme Court of the United States.
This is however a big blow the Obama agenda which is already suffering at the hands of inconsistency and governmental overreaching.
Updates will follow on the possibility of an appeal to a higher court...
However, today a federal judge has ruled the health care law unconstitutional based on this requirement to have health insurance.
From the Wall Street Journal:
RICHMOND, Va.—A federal court ruled Monday that a central plank of the health law violates the Constitution, dealing the biggest setback yet to the Obama administration's signature legislative accomplishment
In a 42-page ruling, U.S. District Judge Henry E. Hudson said the law's requirement that most Americans carry insurance or pay a penalty "exceeds the constitutional boundaries of congressional power."
The individual mandate "would invite unbridled exercise of federal police powers," wrote Judge Hudson, of the Eastern District of Virginia. "At its core, this dispute is not simply about regulating the business of insurance—or crafting a scheme of universal health insurance coverage—it's about an individual's right to choose to participate."

Gore Effect Strikes Cancun
December 7th, 2010 by Roy W. Spencer, Ph. D.
Today’s my first full day in Cancun at COP-16, and as I emerged from my hotel room I was greeted by a brisk, dry, cool Canadian breeze.
It was 54 deg. F in Cancun this morning — a record low for the date. (BTW, Cancun is nowhere near Canada).
Al Gore is not supposed to be here…but it could be that the Gore Effect has announced his secret arrival. We will check into this.
The following pic I took pretty much sums up what some are trying to accomplish here: Gore Effect Strikes Cancun

Obama Thinks We Need a Sputnik Moment??? When Did We Become the Soviet Union?
America is the inventor of the light bulb, the airplane, the phone, and all kinds of great inventions that have helped shaped our society and the world. However, President Obama thinks we need that "Sputnik Moment" in this country, and my question to him is this...when did we become the Soviet Union??
From Fox News:
Maybe President Obama should tout American inventions and stop worrying about what happened 50 years ago in the Soviet Union.
The United States created all kinds of better products in our history then the Soviet Union did in its small existence and President Obama should get on board with what we do here in the United States.
From Fox News:
The phone. The electric light bulb. The Model T. Heck, Google.
The list of American innovations that have changed life on Earth is practically endless, but President Obama is trying to inspire America's next technological wave by referring back to a 50-year-old achievement by a defunct nation -- Sputnik.

United States to Bailout the European Union
Just when you thought it couldn't get any worse than it already was, the United States government under the command of President Barack Obama throws another pitch right in the dirt to screw the American taxpayer.
Apparently it is a good thing to bailout a foreign government entity.
From NBC News:
How much money are we going to throw off the cliff until we realize the fallacy behind this nonsense? When are we going to get a President that will stand up to the global elite and the federal reserve and demand that the American way of life be protected and the not the actions of the EU, UN, or some other world governing body?

Apparently it is a good thing to bailout a foreign government entity.
From NBC News:
The United States would be ready to support the extension of the European Financial Stability Facility via an extra commitment of money from the International Monetary Fund, a U.S. official told Reuters on Wednesday.
"There are a lot of people talking about that. I think the European Commission has talked about that," said the U.S. official, commenting on enlarging the 750 billion euro ($980 billion) EU/IMF European stability fund. "It is up to the Europeans. We will certainly support using the IMF in these circumstances."
