Judge Strikes Down Healthcare Reform Law

In the biggest challenge yet to President Obama's healthcare reform law, a federal judge in Florida has ruled the law unconstitutional on the grounds that the requirement clause of the bill violates the constitution.

From Reuters:

(Reuters) - A federal judge in Florida struck down President Barack Obama's landmark healthcare overhaul as unconstitutional on Monday in the biggest legal challenge yet to federal authority to enact the law.

U.S. District Judge Roger Vinson ruled that the reform law's so-called individual mandate went too far in requiring that Americans start buying health insurance in 2014 or pay a penalty.

"Because the individual mandate is unconstitutional and not severable, the entire act must be declared void," he wrote, "This has been a difficult decision to reach and I am aware that it will have indeterminable implications."

This is a first big step in the fight to prevent government intrusion into our lives. You cannot mandate citizens to have health insurance and then fine them for not providing coverage for themselves.

Lets keep this fight up and stop big government right in its tracks!!

  1. I feel the same way about car insurance, but everyone seems to be all for that!

Don't say it isn't the same thing, because it is. Government telling me that I need to buy something, or pay a fine if I don't.
